Activities at White Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Shayla Sharmeen
Hi my name is Shayla and I'm the activities coordinator here at White Lodge.
Prior to taking the position, I joined White Lodge as care assistant in 2022 and loved every minute of my role. My passion is very much in supporting the day to day lives of the people we care for, it is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining White Lodge that will make for an enriched activities program to be developed, one that keeps them at the heart of the local community. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at White Lodge Care Home

Meeting Our Community
We had another fantastic day out the community this week visiting friends and new friends to White Lodge Care Home. We love getting out to see everybody, inviting the community to along to our upcoming events, and spreading the word about all the exciting things happening over the coming weeks. If you would like to get in touch about our events, or to come and have a look at our beautiful surroundings please get in touch with Ramona our Home Manager.

Happy Birthday Gheorghe
As part of the resident of the day the team come together to make the day special for the resident by asking them what they would like to have or to do.
Our resident Gheorghe requested for a Romanian food named "sarmale" when the team asked him what we can do for him. To make the day special, the life enrichment team decorated the dinning room with Romanian flag bunting and balloons, the kitchen made "sarmale" following the most traditional recipe, with the General Manager and the Deputy Manager joining him wearing a traditional Romanian blouse.
What a fantastic day and its lovely to embrace the cultures we have here at White Lodge

Dementia Choir Visit
We popped back to the Dementia Choir this week. It’s been a pleasure to join the choir with other residents from different home and is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to make new friends. Thank you to Lisa and the volunteers for running such an amazing activity

We met the Deveraux
We were invited by Riverside community group who arranged a talk about exciting 1640s by members of the colonel Devereux's regiment living history group!
Right after the residents reached Malmesbury, they met a group of Devereux shooting for their add and was lucky to be able to click a picture with the Amazing actors!
Then we went to the town hall to attend the talk. It was lovely to see the old fashioned gun, how they used to knit and sew, handheld weaving loom to make tape, old fashioned hat and gloves. Such a wonderful experience for the residents!!!

Weekday Walks
We take every moment possible to get outside at White Lodge, and as the weather starts to show some improvement those moments can happen every day. Its lovely to have visitors out and about enjoying our beautiful scenery and new balcony.

Army Flying Museum
Here at White Lodge, we want to ensure we try to make wishes come true. Taking this into account one of our residents Robert wanted to go and see planes up close so our life enrichment team planned a mini bus trip to Army Flying Museum in Stockbridge. We had few more residents interested for the trip to came along with us.
When we arrived at the museum, Robert was over the moon to see all the miniatures up close and even got into one of them. We spent the day walking all over the museum, reading and listening to the history along with a refreshment break in the museums cafe.
When asked Robert said it was one of his best days!
