Activities at The Wingfield Care Home
Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

Local Garden Centre Visit
This week residents enjoyed a trip to Palmer Gardens this is a garden centre run by the Shaw Trust providing training and employment for disabled adults. We had a lovely time looking at all the beautiful flowers in bloom followed by a nice cup of tea in the cafe.
Local School Visits Residents for Community Week
The Wingfield are delighted to be welcoming the foundation year pupils from St John's Catholic Primary School this week for their community week. As our neighbours we are always so pleased when they are able to visit our residents. The children sat colouring with residents in our courtyard and left their colourful pictures for residents to enjoy.
Alpaca Experience
The Wingfield had some very special visitors today, Sandy and Guinness gorgeous alpacas from Alpaca Adventures, they happily walked around both homes, meeting residents in the lounges and in their rooms. Sandy and Guinness were gentle yet had real character and everyone greatly enjoyed meeting them.
Stunning Upcycling Project
There is nothing better than a vision becoming a reality and our wonderful residents have worked hard painting old tyres to create glorious tea cups. We are spending a lot of time outside in sun and everyone is enjoying the array of colour.
Cold Beer on a Hot Day
We are sure many of you will have enjoyed a cold beer in this glorious weather and some of our gentleman residents greatly enjoy a beer in The Wingfield bar this weekend.
All the residents love the bar and we want to officially name it. The Wingfield are delighted to launch our name our bar competition. The winning name will receive a pub themed hamper and the honour of their suggestion created as a pub sign. Entry forms will be available in both reception areas, we can't wait to see your suggestions.
Joan and Frank Celebrate 70 Years of Marriage
It is always a privilege to share the lives of our residents and we love having couples at The Wingfield. Today was one couples very special day, Joan and Frank Bray celebrated 70 Years of marriage. Married in Shropshire on 16th May 1953, the couple first met aged 10 and 11 when they had been evacuated from London during the war. This friendship led to love. Surrounded by family including their two sons Michael and Terry the activities team arranged for Joan and Frank's favourite singer Shannon Kitchen to perform. Shannon sang a wonderful selection of classic songs including "I can't help falling in love with you" and all the residents greatly enjoyed singing along. Our fabulous Senior Carer Anette danced along and got everyone involved. The celebrations continued with a cake and buffet made by The Wingfield's hospitality team as well as a stunning cake made by the couple's daughter in law. The residents were planning when they would have each cake!
Joan and Frank received their last congratulatory card from HM Queen Elizabeth and now for their 70th from HM King Charles and Queen Camilla. Congratulations Joan and Frank.
