Activities at The Wingfield Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

String Quartet

The residents recently enjoyed an afternoon with Diana and her String Quartet ‘Stringbeanz’. Again, this event was much anticipated with our residents and the performance proved it was well worth the wait! They played 70’s TV Theme Tunes, Elvis, Mammia Mia and lots more. Everyone enjoyed playing ‘guess the tune’ and singing along to those they knew. We already can’t wait for the Stringbeanz to visit again!

The Wingfield goes back to the 1940’s

Ahead of the D-Day 80th Anniversary this year we decided to take a step back in time and hosted a 1940’s themed day at the home. The home was decorated to fit the theme, the chef prepared a delicious but authentic lunch and staff dressed for the occasion to really give the day that authentic feel. In the afternoon we hosted a tea party with a special performance from the D-Day Dollies, everyone thoroughly enjoyed dancing and singing along. The day sparked fond memories for so many and it was lovely to be able to bring the whole home together as our residents reminisced on the past.

Whitehall Garden Centre

We recently enjoyed a fantastic morning at Whitehall Garden Centre. Admiring the beautiful flowers and visiting the animals before enjoying a hot beverage and slice of cake in the café. It was a morning full of fun and laughter and we all had such a lovely time.

National Beer Day

The residents enjoyed a relaxing afternoon tasting a variety of beers to celebrate National Beer Day this year. Some of our residents played games and had snacks in our very own bar lounge, aptly named 'The Wingfield Arms,' while others chose to enjoy a tasting session in the comfort of their rooms.

This simple activity made a significant difference to many of our residents' day and brought back fond memories.

Ladies Day at the Races

We had a busy day at the home celebrating Ladies Day at Ascot this year. We spent the morning doing some arts and crafts creating some fabulous hats, which we then wore at our ‘Ladies Day Afternoon Tea’ hosted in one of our beautiful gardens. It was lovely to bring everyone together for the afternoon and we all had a great time!

International Nurses Day

Sunday 12th May marked International Nurses Day and to commemorate the day we delivered a hamper of treats to our neighbour Widbrook Medical Practice, the residents also made cards for all the nurses that work at our home.

International Nurses Day is a day to recognise Nurses around the world and to celebrate their contributions to the nursing profession. We are very proud to have such a good team of nurses working at our home.
