Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
VE Day celebrations
Wood Grange marked the 79th anniversary of VE Day, a momentous occasion in history celebrating the end of World War II in Europe. We honoured this day with a morning tea, a sing-along of wartime classics, and sharing fascinating facts about this pivotal moment in our shared history. Let's remember and celebrate the bravery and sacrifices of those who fought for freedom and peace.
Residents return to Waterside after flooding
We're thrilled to see Waterside back in action after overcoming the challenges brought by January's floods. And great to see our old friend Gary the Gorilla! Residents were delighted in browsing Waterside's offerings and indulging in some well-deserved refreshments and delicious cakes. Peter said, "it was amazing to see the flood line marked on the wall in the restaurant".
Residents embrace flower power
Residents at Wood Grange Care Home in Bourne celebrated Chelsea Flower Show which took place from 21 to 25 May 2024 - as well as watching the show on TV, they also held their own Chelsea inspired activities for the green-fingered.
Created and run by the Royal Horticultural Society, Chelsea Flower Show is the world’s greatest flower show with stunning garden designs and gorgeous floral displays.
Cadbury's Virtual Event
Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.
Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.
It was a heart-warming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!
Darwen the miniature horse visits again!
Brenda and her horse Darwen came to visit the residents at Wood Grange to celebrate the Grand National Event. Darwen brought laughter and smiles, filling the home with horsey happiness. The residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing Darwen as they always do. Later on in the day some of the residents sat to watch the Grand National making their own bets. Well done to both Rosemary’s for their first place win, Harry securing second place and Robina claiming third. They were overjoyed with their well-deserved prizes.
