Activities at Wood Grange Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

Ethel’s 105th birthday celebrations

Ethel turned 105 on the 2nd of April 2024. Ethel received a card from the King and Local MP Gareth Davies who she has previously met on a visit to Wood Grange. In total by the 2nd April Ethel received 65 cards in total however cards are still coming through the post to date therefore this figure continues to increase. One card came from as far as Scotland. Ethel enjoyed a visit from Dr Pears and Denika Wilmot from the Hereward Practice, wishing her happy birthday and gifting her a large 105th Balloon and card. Ethel is Hereward’s practice eldest patient. During Ethel’s celebrations she told us all that during her time in the RAF she made 3 life-long friends, these friends and other colleagues used to call her ‘Aunt Happy’ as she was always smiling.

Grand National

What a fantastic day we had for the Grand National! We had the pleasure of welcoming Darwen the miniature horse, who brought smiles to resident's faces as he trotted around visiting rooms and communal areas.

After some delightful equine company, we gathered to watch the Grand National. Congratulations to both Rosemary's for their joint first-place win, Harry for securing second place, and Robina for claiming third! They were all overjoyed with their well-deserved prizes.

Morris Dancers Visit Wood Grange

Residents and guests at Wood Grange care home in Bourne enjoyed a night of grins with a live dance performance that took place at the home. Local Bourne Borderers performed their Morris Dancing routines along with live music played on their accordions and flutes.

The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the show.

General Manager, Katya said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day dancing along with the wonderful performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Wood Grange as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.
