Activities at Appletree Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly arranging new activities to stimulate and catch the imagination of our residents. From visiting entertainers to a regular craft table to outings on the minibus, there is always something for our residents to keep them entertained. Our Activities Coordinator also takes the time to sit with each resident and go through a life history so they get to know what the likes and dislikes of each individual are and can tailor the activities to suit them. A monthly residents meeting is held to get the views of the residents and to get suggestions from them and their families about what they would like to do and everything that can be done to accommodate their requests is done.

Christina Curtis
Hi, my name is Christina and I am the activities coordinator here at Appletree Grange. I joined both Barchester and the home in July 2024. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we will work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Appletree Grange Care Home

Up close with Royalty
We had an unforgettable day as we took a trip down the road to the reopening of Birtley Swimming Pool!
Our residents were thrilled to see His Royal Highness, Prince William at the opening, meeting and greeting members of the community as part of his Royal walkabout. His visit brought so much joy and excitement to the community and it was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to connect and create lasting memories.
Thank you, Your Royal Highness for spending time in our community - 'Who says Birtley can't do royal'

Spooktacular crafts
We have been getting into the Halloween spirit, as we begin to make our spooktacular decorations to bring some seasonal fun to the home, from pumpkins, bats and ghosts which are starting to pop up around the home.

Cards and Crafts
The residents at Appletree Grange have fully embraced the autumn season by getting creative with leaf and stick crafts! from making beautiful nature-inspired decorations to sharing laughs over their creations, it’s was a wonderfully cosy day.
As the afternoon wound down, we gathered together to listen to music and reminisce about the old times, sharing fond memories and stories that brought smiles all around.

Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
