Activities at Appletree Grange Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly arranging new activities to stimulate and catch the imagination of our residents. From visiting entertainers to a regular craft table to outings on the minibus, there is always something for our residents to keep them entertained. Our Activities Coordinator also takes the time to sit with each resident and go through a life history so they get to know what the likes and dislikes of each individual are and can tailor the activities to suit them. A monthly residents meeting is held to get the views of the residents and to get suggestions from them and their families about what they would like to do and everything that can be done to accommodate their requests is done.
Christina Curtis
Hi, my name is Christina and I am the activities coordinator here at Appletree Grange. I joined both Barchester and the home in July 2024. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we will work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Appletree Grange Care Home
French Day
Ca a été une journée fabuleuse ici à Appletree Grange aujourd'hui
We definitely brought a smile to staff ,visitors and residents that's for sure when we choose to do all things French!
The day started with a French breakfast, next of course was classic episodes of Allo Allo before starting on a French language lesson' Bonjour ' and French quiz
a few residents tried their hand at making Tart Tatin and they certainly were delicious
International Cat Day
Here at Appletree Grange we never need a reason to go the extra mile to celebrate each day, take this week for example as we discovered International Cat Day.
Wearing our pussy cat ears we set about the day with a cat themed quiz, fascinating facts about cats, a lovely discussion about our beloved pet cats and of course creating our very own Cat treats, I’m sure you will agree they turned our Purrfect
Book Club
Each Week here at Appletree Grange we have our ‘book club’ and it has to be said its always welcomed with great enthusiasm.
Armed with a collection of daily newspapers, celebrity magazines and hobby editions we gather together and there is always something to be read out and shared with others, more than often creating much amusement at some of the stories to behold.
A trip to Barley Mow Community Centre
It’s always important to reach out to our local community and utilise what is on offer for our residents to enjoy.
A trip to Barley Mow Community Centre gave immense pleasure to our residents as they visited their Monthly Table top sale and local authorities information day. Barry our resident said "I loved getting to chat to the guys from the fire brigade and also wining on the tombola"
London 'Herstory'
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
National Ice Cream Day
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.
Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.
