Activities at Appletree Grange Care Home

Our Activities Coordinator is constantly arranging new activities to stimulate and catch the imagination of our residents. From visiting entertainers to a regular craft table to outings on the minibus, there is always something for our residents to keep them entertained. Our Activities Coordinator also takes the time to sit with each resident and go through a life history so they get to know what the likes and dislikes of each individual are and can tailor the activities to suit them. A monthly residents meeting is held to get the views of the residents and to get suggestions from them and their families about what they would like to do and everything that can be done to accommodate their requests is done.

A Visit from Discovery Zoo

Here at Appletree Grange we had a visit from Discovery Zoo where a few of our residents got up close to some rather different animals. We were surprised to see how brave some of our residents were and didn’t hesitate to handle them -  especially the snake.

RAF Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

National Fish and Chips Day

On national Fish and chips Day there's no better PLAICE to be than Appletree Grange

Our residents are lucky enough to have the opporTUNAty to enjoy home cooked fish and chips every FRYday and its always a firm favourite so today was no exception

Pets at the Palaces

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

Book Club

Monday afternoon book club is a firm favourite here at Appletree Grange.

It never ceases to amaze how one picture in a book can recall such fabulous memories, for example today we discussed Anderson Shelters in the garden to hearing about Dunkirk on the radio.

Celebrating the Coronation in Style

What a fantastic time we had here at AppleTree Grange!

Who doesn't love a Royal occasion, especially accompanied by family & friends with pink fizz party food and cream cakes. It seems there's actually NO limit to the amount of times we can sing the national anthem too!

Here's a few photos of the festivities, we hope you are all enjoyed the celebrations just as much as us!
