Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Diane Wood
Hi, my name is Diane and I am Head of Activities here at Archview. I have worked in the homes since 2009.
I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.
Outside of work, I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Trip to Lucas
We went a trip down to Lucas ice shop in Musselburgh. On our way down to Lucas we sang Roaming in the gloaming, it’s a long way to Tipperary and loads more fun and laughter on the bus. Once we got down to Lucas we asked each resident what king of ice cream they would like Margaret said I would like a Vanilla tub please, Nancy said oh mint choc chip is my favourite, George said can I have a raspberry ripple tub please and Jimmy wanted a Strawberry cone all residents enjoyed there ice cream and enjoyed there afternoon and on our way we went through Whitecraig to see the horses and we named the white horse Daisy.
Blackpool experience
Blackpool came along to Archview for the day & night. In the morning we watched the parade going along the Blackpool prom. All residents that watched the parade going along the prom really enjoyed it. Brought back so many good memories. At night we put the Blackpool tour on the big screen all residents enjoyed seeing all the trams lit up and the Blackpool lights along the prom. Brought back so many memories for most of our residents one residents said to her daughter I can remember taking you to Blackpool when you were young and that wasn’t yesterday. Some residents said it was just like being at Blackpool as the dining room was all lit up with bright colourful lights.
Virtual afternoon at the theatre
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
Aloha from Archview
Aloha from Archview as residents enjoyed a themed Hawaiian party. Residents enjoyed dressing up with grass skirts and dancing along to the ‘hula hula’ dance. Everyone enjoyed themselves especially the pretty colours of the skirts and garlands, which added a little colour to the autumnal weather.
There was lots of fun and laughter all around even though residents said “they wished they were on the actual beach sunbathing and drinking cocktails”. Where will our themed travels take us next?
Birthday celebrations
Birthdays are a firm feature in our life enrichment programme and this month celebrated, Liz, Etta and Nancy’s birthdays. Our residents had a fabulous day surrounded by their families and friends, residents and staff here at the home before each were presented with a home-made cake especially prepared by chef, Mervyn along with a rousing rendition of happy birthday!
Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
