Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Diane Wood

Head of Activities

Hi, my name is Diane and  I am Head of Activities here at Archview.  I have worked in the homes since 2009.

I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.

Outside of work,  I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Krispy Kreme

Diane & sally took John & George a trip along to Krispy Kreme’s at Hermiston Gait to get some delicious original Glazed doughnuts. George & John enjoyed watching the doughnuts getting made and going along the belt to get decorated at the other end. We never just got doughnuts for George & John we brought all our residents one. Our residents said they tasted delicious.

New Year’s Party 2024

Happy New Year from all resident & staff here at Archview. What an amazing afternoon our residents, staff & family members had. Our live entertainer Allan Weatherhead once again put on an amazing afternoon. He had staff members and residents up dancing. Our residents sang their hearts out along with Allan while enjoyed a beverage and lovely tasty nibbles.

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.

We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff.  It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.

Big Quiz of the Year

All over the country our care homes and hospitals linked up for Barchester’s Big Quiz of the year!

Residents tested their knowledge with a variety of questions, from historical humdingers and musical musings to pictorial puzzlers and connective conundrums.

Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Archview Christmas Choir

This time of year again when our Activity coordinator Mary Macfarlane takes her time out to put on a Christmas choir. Mary being Mary put out a flyer asking for family members to come along to the choir practice on a Monday night . Mary couldn’t believe how many family members she got. The day went with a bang residents and family members put on an amazing performance. Our residents staff sang along with the choir. Big shout out to Mary Macfarlane for putting on a great performance your Archview super star.

Little voices big stars

Little voices big stars put on an amazing performance for our residents. Our residents said what an amazing night they had listening to the children singing Christmas songs. The children even came over to speak with the residents which was extra special as our residents just love children.
