Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Diane Wood
Hi, my name is Diane and I am Head of Activities here at Archview. I have worked in the homes since 2009.
I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.
Outside of work, I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Life at Archview Lodge Care Home
Volunteer
This afternoon in Archview we had the company of Cara, Rachel, Susie & Heidi. 4 primary 6 pupils from the local kings Park Primary School in Dalkeith. The 4 young girls wanted to spend their Sunday afternoon volunteering and they choose to do it in our home.
What an amazing afternoon our residents had. They helped the residents do word searches, joined in with dominoes and also helped the residents at the scrabble. The 4 girls were so caring and very polite towards our residents. The 4 girls even gave out free cuddles to our residents when they were leaving can’t wait for you all to come back and join in.
Our residents said what really polite children they were and very helpful. Our residents said they can’t wait to see there little happy faces again.
Thanks again Cara, Rachel, Susie & Heidi from all residents & Staff here at Archview
Bingo Bonanza
Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as we teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.
Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.
Everyone who participate had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
Valentine’s Day
Happy valentine’s Day
We brought all our lovely couples together on such a romantic day to enjoy a romantic lunch with their loved ones. Everyone enjoyed the lunch big thank you to our Chef’s Scott & Ahmett.
Then in the afternoon we listened to our valentine’s Feel Good Singing Group. Our valentine’s group got together every Monday for the past 5 weeks. So they could put on a show for everyone. So a big thank you to everyone that took part. Big shout to Sheila for showing the younger team how to dance. All residents, staff & family members enjoyed there afternoon singing along.
We all would like to say a massive thank you to our activity coordinator Mary Macfarlane once again for putting on another great show this afternoon. You’re on in a million your Archview’s Diamond.
Burns Supper
What a great afternoon at the Croft in Loanhead. Thank you to saltire hospitality for inviting Archview’s residents & staff along to the Late Haggis Show for Robert Burns. Kitty, Jessie & Maureen had a ball. Maureen was up dancing along to the music. Our residents & staff were singing along to the music also. A big thank you to Susy for asking us to come along. Sally, Diane and a retired worker from Archview Annette for coming along and helping out. Everyone had a great afternoon singing & dancing along to the band. We were even lucky winning on the raffle.
Valentine's virtual event
Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!
Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own. Residents truly enjoyed the experience.
Mini Bus Outing
Mini bus outing we were heading to Lucas in Musselburgh for an ice cream when I decided to go along the farm road in White Craig. We spotted loads of horses in a field so we stopped to see if they would come over to see us of course they did our residents were amazed at how close they came. Then we headed off on our journey to get an ice cream cone at Luca’s which all residents and staff enjoyed. We drove along Musselburgh High Street to the harbour as we previously wrote a letter to put in a bottle to send off in the sea to see if anyone finds it and reply’s back to us. On our way back we had a sing song which everyone enjoyed.
