Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Lest We Forget
At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month we will remember them.
Residents enjoyed a minibus trip to Spa Gardens in Ripon to lay a wreath and held a two minute silence.
Within the home residents took part in various activities such as; making poppy displays, listening and singing to old wartime songs, reading war poems and a Remembrance Day Quiz provided by the wonderful Oomph Wellness team.
It is very important that we keep the memories of those who fought in the World Wars and honour the contribution of everyone involved.
Musical Moments
Another fantastic morning was had by our lovely residents provided by Maggie from Musical Moments!
It was energetic, fast paced and most of all FUN! Just look at those smiles.
Thank you Maggie for yet another smile filled session of stimulation and activity, we can't wait for our next visit!
Remembrance Service
We enjoyed a visit from Reverend Karen Gardiner from St James Church who came to do a special Remembrance Service in the run up to Remembrance Day.
We sang Hymns of Remembrance to pay tribute to the fallen hero’s.
To conclude the service we read the famous war poem, In Flanders Fields.
Thank you Karen for a lovely, heartfelt service.
Craft Club
Huge well done to our craft club for creating this wonderful wreath for the Remembrance Service on Friday 11th November.
Colouring can be very beneficial for people living with dementia as it is an engrossing activity that anyone can do. It can also help ease agitation, and allows the person to switch off from their own thoughts to focus on the moment.
Bonfire Celebrations
Thank you to each and every one of you that came to our firework display at the weekend to celebrate Bonfire Night.
Huge thanks to our Head Chef, Tony for the delicious hot dogs and homemade soup, what a treat!
It was so lovely to see our residents and families together
Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats
Boroughbridge Manor was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Party got in to full swing.
Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by decorating the home, carving pumpkins, icing spooky biscuits and cupcakes and hosting a themed Halloween party. Residents, staff and visitors were treated to a spooky buffet including witches fingers, wiggly worms, breaded bats and much more! In the afternoon, the home enjoyed a special visit from KL Pony Therapy with not one, but two of the best dressed Pony’s the residents had ever seen.
