Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Church Service
Thank you Karen for another wonderful church service, the residents always enjoy coming together for prayers and hymns.
Our next Church service will be in September as Karen will be studying for 3 months!
We hope you have a great summer Karen
Ice Ice Baby!
This week is Dementia Action Week so we challenged our Chef, Rob and our two maintenance men Iain and Tom to do an ice bucket challenge to raise money for Alzheimer's Society and all I can say is WOW!
We raised an amazing £230!!
A huge thank you to everyone that donated. We really do have the most wonderful residents, staff and families. Also a huge special thanks Tom, Iain and Rob for being brave enough to take on the challenge and of course for these hilarious photos!
World Cocktail Day and International Hummus Day
The day was celebrated with fun-filled activities and of course lots of mocktails.
The residents were treated to a mocktail tasting session; a hummus tasting session and a fun afternoon cocktail quiz.
We prepared a variety of refreshing non-alcoholic beverages, and juices, so we can stay hydrated too. To finish the day off, we created our own mocktail which we named Twisted Iced Tea.
A great time was had by all.
A special letter delivery!
Boroughbridge Manor received something very special in the post...
A letter from Windsor Castle on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen!
Last month residents made a lovely card for The Queen’s 96th Birthday and they were delighted to receive this letter of thanks from Windsor Castle.
We have proudly framed the letter in reception.
Mental Health Awareness Week
We took part in the annual Mental Health Awareness week by hosting a variety of themed activities and awareness sessions.
During the week, our residents created their own personal profiles that will go in their rooms, residents also enjoyed having musical morning with Maggie from Musical Moments.
Here at Boroughbridge Manor we try to encourage friendships and promoting positive emotional wellbeing through social connections, empathy and emotional support.
Our main focus was to raise awareness whilst having fun, so we brought music and comedy to our home to boost everyone’s mental health by singing, dancing and laughing.
VE Day Celebrations
Our home was specially decorated inside and out for the occasion with flags, bunting and soldiers.
Our residents took a two minute silence to honour the fallen; created a lovely video; listened to wartime tunes; enjoyed a variety of sweet treats and homemade lemonade; reminisced about their memories of VE Day and watched clips of the celebrations that took place outside Buckingham Palace and all across London.
Flags were flying, hands were clapping and feet tapping!
It was a fabulous day, enjoyed by all.
