Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Mothering Sunday

Our home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers in recognition of Mother’s Day.

During the day residents enjoyed visits and phone calls from their families, they loved receiving and opening their cards and gifts, followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea whilst reminiscing about their fondest memories.

Our residents and staff got creative and had a great time creating this video for Mother’s Day.

There were smiles all around the home.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful staff, families, and visitors.

A beautiful day enjoyed by all.

‘My Name is Not Wigs’ Virtual Talk

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.

‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.

All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!

,

Afternoon Tea Party

This afternoon residents and staff celebrated with a Global Tea Party.

Afternoon tea is a nostalgic way to offer a variety of savoury and sweet options between meals, or as a supper time snack.

Not only does it help improve nutritional intake for our residents, it’s also a great way to get them together and create lots of fun.

Residents enjoyed an afternoon full of tasty snacks, music and of course.. TEA!

,

St Patricks Day

Residents and the team here have been enjoying a fun packed Irish themed day led by activities co-ordinator Suzanne to celebrate St Patrick's Day!

From an Irish themed menu created by our talented chef Tony - they enjoyed Steak & Guinness pie, Colcanon and Guinness Cake - to a musical themed activity with guest Musical Moments getting our residents active and social.

It's been a great day and laughter filled the air!

Red Nose Day

We had a great day raising money for Red Nose Day with our annual cake sale full of delicious treats!

Residents had a wonderful morning taking part in a variety of games and sweepstakes.

, ,

International Day of Happiness

To start the day off right we had a visit from KL PONY Therapy and her amazing miniature Digby.

Digby is a trainee blind pony, he can accompany blind people just like a guide dog, he really is special!

What an amazing morning we have all had, full of smiles and lots of laughter!
