Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

There will be lots of cakes, games, a bake for dementia quiz. There will also be a prize for the best baked cake/cupcakes.
We look forward to seeing you!
St George's Day Celebrations
In honour of St George, patron saint of England, we decorated our home, dressed up for the occasion and enjoyed a delicious festive lunch, prepared by our talented chef.
We spent some time learning top facts about St George and tested our knowledge with a fun-filled themed quiz provided by Oomph Wellness.
In the afternoon we made Pimm’s mocktails, and to garnish we used mint from our very own sensory garden!
To top the day off, our resident Queen Pearl knighted her fellow residents and staff!
We had a wonderful day.
Monthly Church Service
This week, residents enjoyed the service by Rev Karen Gardiner from St James’ Parish Church in Boroughbridge.
Each month Rev Karen Gardiner comes to give a service, supporting residents to continue to practice their religious beliefs and helps to enable them to feel connected to the Church and to the community.
Birthday celebrations for a lovely lady!
We would like to wish our lovely resident Cynthia a very Happy 94th Birthday!
Cynthia had a lovely morning opening her cards and presents from her family, she enjoyed a pamper in our hair salon and has had her nails done by our amazing nail technician Judith this afternoon.
National Tea Day
Today we marked the Queen’s birthday in style by brewing up a storm for National Tea Day and having an morning tea party. The conservatory was fabulously decorated on this glorious sunny day and marked the occasion in perfect style.
Supplied with a tasty selection of biscuits, cakes, and of course, teas for our event, our residents had lots of fun taking part in sessions including themed quizzes, reading interesting facts about the Queen. The Queen and other royal family members even popped in to join in the fun!
We all truly enjoyed the double celebration and the wide selection of teas and of course another excuse for some cake!
Easter celebrations at Boroughbridge Manor
Staff and residents at Boroughbridge Manor have been busy scheduling a variety of Easter themed activities for all residents to enjoy during the holiday.
In the UK Easter is one of the major Christian festivals of the year. It is full of customs and celebrations. However, Easter in Britain has its beginnings long before the arrival of Christianity. Many theologians believe Easter itself is named after the Anglo-Saxon goddess of the dawn and spring - Eostre.
Over the years, many Easter traditions have taken shape, everything from chocolate bunnies to Easter egg hunts.
To celebrate Easter in style, the home was decorated with Easter eggs, bunnies and colourful banners to bring positivism and holiday spirit. Team members and residents also created a beautiful Easter display in the reception area.
Throughout the day, everyone got involved in a variety of fun-filled activities, from enjoying hot cross buns and making Easter wreath to quizzes, poetry and puzzles.
The residents had the opportunity to learn more about the Easter traditions and reminiscence about how they used to celebrate the day.
What a lovely Easter full of colour, laughter and chocolate!
