Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Musical Mondays at Boroughbridge Manor

This week we welcomed back Matthew Jones-Green. Matthew last played for us in November and our residents were so happy to have him back!

Music has been shown to have many positive benefits including enhancing moods and mental well-being as well as memory recognition.

Residents had a wonderful time singing and dancing to all their favourite hits. We can't wait for Matthew to visit us again!

Nutrition and Hydration Week

To kick start our week residents have enjoyed a brilliant breakfast, consisting of croissants, granola with Greek yoghurt, a variety of fruit juices and lots of fresh fruit.

This week we are focusing on the value of food and drink. We have a variety of sensory and tasting sessions planned to help maintain health and well-being.

Our hospitality team will focus on preparing fresh nutritional dishes, containing super snacks, fruit salads and smoothies!

Puppy Paradise at Boroughbridge Manor

Here at Boroughbridge Manor we enjoyed watching Crufts yesterday, the international dog show held annually in the UK.

The dog show was initially set up in Victoria times by the late Charles Cruft, which has become an essential date in the calendar of any dog lover.

Throughout the day, our residents took part in a number of interesting activities from watching the show and participating in a quiz to enjoying some precious with the beautiful Willow, our Operations Managers dog.

We had an amazing time and look forward to watching Crufts again today!

Birthday celebrations for a special lady

Our Joyce is celebrating her 93rd birthday in style today! We have had a pamper in the homes salon, a good old natter about her Birthdays gone by and she is particularly looking forward to her birthday cake prepared by our Chef.

Many Happy Returns Joyce, from your Family here at Boroughbridge Manor.

Pamper days at Boroughbridge Manor

Residents were excited to welcome our hairdresser Julie and our nail technician Judith back!

They’ve been well and truly pampered.

Elizabeth said “I love when Julie does my hair, she knows exactly what I want and I always feel so relaxed”

Just look at those smiles!

“A smile never goes out of style“

Residents enjoy a virtual tour of Cliveden from the National Trust Talks Service

We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.

The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.

Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.

The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.

We all had a brilliant time.
