Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Yasmine Dawson

Activities Coordinator

I have worked at Braeburn Lodge since 2015. I started working as a carer and the activities side of the role really appealed to me. We organise a variety of activities to suit everybody’s preferences and abilities. I enjoy working at Braeburn and making a difference to the residents’ lives.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Halloween Colouring

Although we could not have trick or treaters visiting our home this year, we still wanted to engage with our local community, so we held a colouring competition for the local children. We were so grateful for all the entries and our residents judged the competition. Because they were all so fantastic, we struggled to choose the overall winner! The above picture is the winning entry. We all hope you had a spooktacular Halloween.

Pumpkin Carving

Residents are getting ready for Halloween by carving pumpkins into spooky shapes. We have placed them all over the home and they look brilliant!

Giant Snakes & Ladders

What is a better way to beat the boredom on a rainy afternoon than a giant game of snakes and ladders? The residents enjoyed playing a giant version of the traditional game that was large enough for everyone to get involved!

Games Morning

Residents enjoyed a morning of fun-filled games, including: Headbandz, mini basketball and carpet bowls. A great time was had by all!

Baking Session

Residents took part in a baking session, making delicious cakes that were enjoyed by all later on that afternoon.
