Activities at Cadbury Hall Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hannah Lewis

Activities Co Ordinator

Hi, my name is Hannah and I am the Activities Coordinator at Cadbury Hall.

I studied ‘Creative Expressive Arts, Health and Wellbeing’ at university and am passionate about using the arts to aid people’s social, physical, and mental wellbeing. In my spare time I love to dance, sing, and act, and help to run a local drama group for children aged 10-18.

With the support of all staff at Cadbury Hall and feedback from residents, we aim for a varied and person-centred activity schedule to help the residents lead rich and fulfilling lives. The best part of my day is seeing the residents get stuck in with the activities and looking at the smiles on their faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Summer Fun

We started the day with an exercise session run by personal functional trainer Simon Flett. We also danced to popular music in the lounge. Then as a special summertime treat, Mr Whippy made a trip to Cadbury Hall to serve ice creams to all the residents.

An afternoon enjoying the sunshine with good company on the patio.

The methods and mediums may change but the heart of live music - the communal joy, the shared emotions, the collective energy - remains untouched. As we look to the future, one thing is clear: live music will continue to be a cherished experience at Cadbury Hall, even as its form and format evolve.

Elizabeth Glenn Professional Soprano and Vocal Coach

Elizabeth Glen professional Soprano and vocal coach who has performed in many concerts across the world and starred as a soloist live at the proms at the London Palladium, visited Cadbury Hall and sang for the residents yesterday afternoon. This was especially appreciate for our jazz and classical music aficionados.

One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live musical entertainment. Resident involvement in choosing genres along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.

100th Birthday Celebration

On the 10th August we celebrated being a Hundred Years Young with John.

John welcomed his family and friends to a celebration in our private dining room, champagne flowed and cake was eaten. As John had been a founding member of the Mendip Morris dancers, the team came to Cadbury Hall to celebrate with John. It came to light he had taught all the members the dances they show cased. John's two sons took part and John commented he wished he could take part.

John had been the head of Yatton Junior school until his retirement, been active member of the rambler's association and took part in many local groups and community projects. He has written several books including the history of Yatton Junior school and his autobiography.

At Cadbury Hall we celebrate birthdays not just as a mark of ageing another year but as a celebration of life, achievements, and personal growth. It's a time for reflection, gratitude, and looking forward to future possibilities. Birthdays provide a special opportunity for us to help residents to gather with loved ones and create lasting memories.

Mike's First Performance

Mike's first Performance at Cadbury Hall.

Our new Residents Mike a talented musician supported by the HSA Angela Grace and team at Cadbury Hall. Brought in a piano along with his toothbrush and clothes.

His first afternoon with us he played a variety of pieces on the piano and some he had written himself .

A fantastic achievement for someone who has been living alone for some time and had played in front of an audience for several months.

A warm welcome to Mike . We look forward to hearing much more the over the coming week.

Mexican Independence Day

We celebrated Mexican Independence day on Monday.

It was a great excuse to have a fiesta with Mexican food provided by our chef. We enjoyed music and took a Spanish class. There were plenty of decorations, Mexican hats and lots of laughter.

Varied cultural traditions, language and experiences are the foundations upon which we build our identity. Through promoting this in our home we'll have a positive impact on our own health and well-being as well as the people we care for.
