Activities at Cepen Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Dementia café with Wiltshire Police
We had a lovely visit from PCSO Cunningham and PCSO Staples today to launch our first Dementia Cafe session and to advise about the Herbert Protocol and dementia wristbands! Whilst there they got to meet one of our residents, who served as a PC for Wiltshire Police from 1965 until 1990, he was PC 576 Jennings and policed in Chippenham from 1966-1968. This turned into a fabulous reminiscence session, and Dave had a great morning! We will release further information on our next dementia cafe shortly, keep your eyes peeled! Chippenham Police will be joining us again too to discuss this important subject and share advice and support.
Granting wishes
Making wishes come true! We asked Stan if he could wish for anything, what would it be? His answer: a romantic meal with his wife. Our chef prepared a special 3 course meal for Stan and his wife, and they had a private dining experience together. Stan was so grateful and they both had a wonderful evening together. Tailoring our services to individuals needs doesn't just include their care, our residents wellbeing and understanding what is important to them is a priority for us. Our team will go above and beyond to support our residents.
Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness for Chippenham Community Hospital NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire ICB. Our Senior General Manager Jade and Activity Assistant Siobhan took residents to deliver beautiful bunches of flowers from this week's flower arranging session. Just look at the lovely smiles on our resident and Chippenham Hospital staff’s faces, it brightened everyone’s day. We also shared lots of information on the community clubs we are holding to support older people in the community to socialise, enjoy good food and learn new hobbies with us free of charge.
Butterfly World!
We had a great day out in the sunshine at Studley Grange Garden & Leisure Park yesterday, visiting the animals and having a walk around before a delicious lunch in the cafe! We admired the beautiful exotic butterflies in the Butterfly World, into the reptile house and then onto the farm park to feed the goats, sheep and farm animals. What a wonderful trip out! Many thanks to our wonderful volunteer Kev Thomson for driving our minibus and supporting us.
VE Day Celebrations
We spent the afternoon singing and dancing, and stepping back in time with amazing entertainment by the D-Day Dollies and a special guest visitor Ken from Royal British Legion, who spent time chatting with some of our veteran residents and represented the Royal British Legion during our celebrations. We had an amazing afternoon and feedback was so positive about this event.
Mayday Celebrations
To celebrate Mayday we had a great British tea party in the sunshine in the gardens, and enjoyed some delicious cakes and treats whilst having a sing song. Some of our residents created their own maypole, which we danced around in the garden as per the Mayday Tradition. We all had so much fun and we’re really enjoying making the most of the sunny weather at last.
