Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Heather Gooch

Activities Coordinator

My name is Heather and I am the Head of Activities here at Chacombe Park. My role is to ensure that all residents are supported in enjoying hobbies and events that enrich their life.

I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Performance, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Drama. I have previously worked for another Barchester home back in 2012 before working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Drama at both GCSE and A Level. I have a passion for person centred care, which has come from my love of pastoral work during my time as a teacher. I want each resident to feel appreciated and supported to enjoy the skills/hobbies that they have treasured before their time at Chacombe.

In my spare time I enjoy singing, cross stitch and learning new skills. I endeavour to bring these hobbies and passions into my role here at Chacombe, as well as learn some new skills from the vast range of knowledge that our residents can bring!

Life at Chacombe Park Care Home

We are now 10-60-06 accredited!

We are now 10-60-06 accredited!

Chacombe Park has achieved accreditation for a new standard of dementia care, which was developed by dementia care specialists at Barchester.

The 10-60-06 dementia programme will replace Barchester's current dementia care programme in order to ensure that the care services provided by our Memory Lane communities for people living with dementia are the best in the sector.

A huge well done to all of the staff, residents & families who have been involved in the journey to reach accreditation.

Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival

We got involved in a singalong with Tristan Pate in celebration of Harvest Festival. We also baked some bread and collected donations for the local food bank.

Reminiscence Afternoon

Reminiscence Afternoon

We had the pleasure of being joined by volunteers from the British Motor Museum in Gaydon. They brought along a vast range of memorabilia for us to have a look at, which sparked many memories and conversations about old cars that everyone used to own. It was a fantastic session!

River Cruise

River Cruise

We enjoyed a river cruise in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a wonderful day out; the sun was shining as we sailed up the river, taking in all the sights and surroundings that Stratford has to offer. We finished up with our favourite fish and chips.

Waterperry Gardens

Waterperry Gardens

We enjoyed picking and tasting the fruits from the trees and the wonderful flower displays the garden has to offer.

Summer Sounds

Summer Sounds

We rounded off the summer with a wonderful afternoon of music and refreshments. We were joined by DukesUkes, a local ukulele group, who played some fantastic tunes for residents.
