Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Jo Eland

Activities Coordinator

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Beside the Seaside

Beside the Seaside

The sun was shining, so where better to go than to the seaside? We headed out to New Brighton, where residents enjoyed fish and chips, ice cream and a stroll along the promenade. The day was completed with a singalong on the journey back.

Poetry with Statham Primary

Poetry with Statham Primary

Residents were delighted to be entertained by year 5 children from a local primary school. The children had memorised some well-known poems, along with writing some original works. These poems were delivered with confidence and enthusiasm, finishing with the classic, 'The Lion and Albert'. Residents from all communities were enthralled by the children and showed their appreciation with much applause and by sharing some verses that they remembered. We look forward to future visits.

Dunham Park

Dunham Park

A short trip to local National Trust Park, Dunham Massey, was not going to be cancelled because of a bit of rain. Several residents and their partners enjoyed some tea and cakes before a browse around the gift shop and then, as if to order, the sun came out, allowing us the chance to have a stroll around the gardens.

Brownie Pack Visit

Brownie Pack Visit

Local Brownie Pack, 5th Lyme Methodist, had a change of venue for their meeting - they visited us at Cheshire Grange. The girls split into two groups to work on both the downstairs and upstairs communities. They chatted with residents about Brownies in the past; several of our ladies remembered being Brownies and how different it was back then. They then set about decorating the ‘owls’ they brought with coloured pens and tissue paper, and I think you will agree that the results were rather good. The evening was finished off with a good ol' singalong!

High Legh Garden Centre

High Legh Garden Centre

With the sun shining down on them, residents boarded the minibus for the short journey to the local garden centre. A majority vote saw us head to the cafe first, where tea, coffee & muffins were eagerly consumed. We then had a wander round the garden centre, admiring the plants, fish and ornaments. The miniature roses and clothing proved popular, with some purchases being made before heading home.

St George's Day

St George's Day

Residents in all communities got into the spirit of St George's Day by waving their flags along to old favourites such as Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and many others.
