Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rikardas Cirunas

Activities Co Ordinator

Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.

I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.

Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.

We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.

Life at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Birthday Celebrations

We always encourage family get together's and parties here at Chestnut Gardens. Birthday's are always a great excuse to get the family together and make a fuss. Penny recently turned 80 years young. Surrounded by friends and family she had a wonderful day.

Garden Centre Visits

The Chestnut Mini Bus has been out and about again. This time we visited our local Garden Centre. Perusing the plants and their lovely handmade decorations. Of course there is always time to stop for some lunch and buy a few bits along the way.

KIND Cafe' Comes to Chestnut

We recently welcomed Caroline Bartle a local Dementia specialist to the home. She was so positive an impressed with not just our facilities but our care too. So we will be working together to set up a Cafe her at Chestnut Gardens. We will be opening our doors to the local community. A chance to reminiscence over home made cake and a freshly brewed coffee. Head over to our Facebook page to find out more.

Morning Meditation

Engaging Residents mind body and soul plays an important part of our weekly activities programme. Small stretches and movement helps set us up for the day.

Residents enjoy a ballroom dance class

The residents enjoyed there regular session of ballroom dancing with Simon, a local ballroom dancer.

Simon starts with a performance for the residents, before getting them up on their feet to learn the moves themselves.

It's a great way to entertain the residents, as well as benefit from some light exercise.

Residents enjoy flower arranging

Our residents embraced a seasonal activity in the form of flower arranging.

Using a variety of beautiful flowers, residents enjoyed a sunny morning creating their very own personalised flower displays in the home’s activity room.

Getting creative with their flowers and foliage, the residents fashioned a number of striking spectacles, whilst listening to music and chatting with each other over tea and biscuits.
