Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Assistant

Elain Carey

Activities Assistant

Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Friend's Reunited

Claremont Parkway resident; Vera Prudeaux has resided with us since May 2020. She's such a gracious lady, full of stories from her days as part of the Salvation Army. On updating her 'getting to know me' booklet, Activities Coordinator; Karen found lots of information out about Vera's much loved Wellingborough Salvation Army community and made it her mission to contact them.

Today, Wednesday 3rd July Vera's dream of meeting her ex group colleagues came true with a visit from friend Marion, and Wellingborough unit Captain; Alison Chapman.

The ladies had a wonderful time sat in the homes sunny conservatory reminiscing over tea and cake. It was such a special reunion, Vera was full of smiles recalling her time within the Salvation Army with pride.

Now the friends are reunited, Captain Alison has agreed to visit again alongside the band to do a performance for all at Claremont Parkway. We can't wait to welcome more of this wonderful community.

Thank you ladies for making Vera's day.

What a 'Wonderland' party!

Our beautiful garden is a great environment for our residents and families to sit in, relax and enjoy a variety of amazing outdoor activities. This Saturday we gathered together to enjoy a Mad Hatter's Tea Party with lots of fun in the sun!

With the help of our residents and staff, we decorated our grounds and home with colour and themed activities for all to enjoy. Chef and the hospitality team prepared an afternoon tea fit for the Queen of Hearts.

Residents and guests were entertained by vocalist Dean Jones who sang the classics from Frank Sinatra, Elvis and Tony Christie, his rendition of Tom Jones' Delilah had us all dancing the afternoon away.

We'd like to send a big thank you everyone who joined us for our first garden party of the year... we have many more planned.

Target Practice

We're keeping Barchester moving and taking advantage of the weekend sunshine. Many residents took to the garden for a spot of target practice. Resident Barbara enjoyed being taken around the garden before soaking up the rays having a chill in the sun.

The target game was full of giggles and got competitive as Pat's family joined in the fun with a sneaky family challenge! We ended the afternoon with refreshments, fresh fruit slices and ice-lollies.

Please join us on Saturday 29th June for more fun in the sun at our Mad Hatter's Garden Party.
