Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey
Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Happy 80th Birthday 'Carol'
On Sunday 28th April we celebrated the beautiful Carol's 80th birthday. Carol enjoyed her requested meal of 'burger and chips' alongside a tipple of rum and coke!
Birthday celebrations at Claremont Parkway are always tailor-made to the wishes of our residents, Carol loved her bonanza of balloons and the delicious home made and decorated cake made by our Head Chef Jorge.
We hope you had the best of times Carol, we all agree...you certainly don't look your age!

Open Day Thank You's
We'd like to send a big thank you to everyone who joined us at Claremont Parkway or our Open Day on Saturday 27th April. It was lovely to welcome members of the community and have the opportunity to showcase our beautiful home, introduce them to our team and be able to offer support.
We started the day with tea, coffee and freshly baked cakes, cookies and croissants in the homes cafe courtesy of Chef Jorge. Before our residents learnt all about 'dream catchers' with Activities Coordinator; Karen. Then, in the afternoon, residents, staff and guests alike were entertained by the sensational singer; Jenny Simmonds had us all up and dancing!

'Golden' Moment Together
Staff at Claremont Parkway enjoyed creating a special 'Golden' Moment Together as one of our wonderful residents celebrated 50 years of marriage with her husband on 24th April 2023. On this day in 1974; Barbara, and Bill took their vows in the presence of family and friends at Kettering registry office to become ‘Mr & Mrs Chester’.
Learning of the couples ‘Golden’ wedding anniversary the home staff at Claremont Parkway decided to arrange a romantic meal for two in the home’s Garden lounge where they could mark the auspicious occasion together with a fine dining experience.
Bill helped design the menu based on Barbara’s favourite foods and chose the background music with the first song being ‘Laughing in the Rain’ by Neil Sedaka followed by a selection of Elton John songs all of which remained the couple of their younger years.
The whole event was kept a secret from his good lady wife, who was thrilled that Bill had organised such a wonderful surprise. Barbara particularly loved the home-made chocolate velvet cake created by Head Chef; Jorge.
General Manager, Jacob Bindura at Claremont Parkway said: “The staff have had such a lovely day celebrating Barbara and Bill’s Golden Wedding Anniversary. The Claremont team couldn’t let the day pass without a celebration. It’s so wonderful to see two people still very much in love after all these years!”

Meeting 'Jasper'
The residents of Claremont Parkway were thrilled to meet ‘Jasper’ the winner of our recent pet photo competition. Jasper and his owner were presented with their prize and Jasper took no time at all in enjoying his new toys!
Well done to everyone that entered.
Oh how we love all pets at Claremont Parkway where ever they live in the world. We even managed to go global with our little competition receiving a cat and dog entry from Kamiah in Idaho!

Harmonies of a Harpist
Our residents were treated to the beautiful sounds of the Harp, played by Pauline Vallance, who also sang. We heard many songs which were mostly requested by the residents, which included Edelweiss, Don’t cry for me Argentina, Wild Rover, Oh Danny Boy and many more. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and danced the afternoon away to the harps harmonies. We look forward to Pauline coming back to perform for them again.

Grand National Fun Day
This weekend we took advantage of The Grand National to have fun at the races!
In the morning residents picked a horse to cheer on during the afternoon’s race. We had much discussion on what colours we would choose if we were a jockey, before studying the odds and race history before selecting our favourites.
The afternoon started similar to the horses with a little gentle exercise before Karen hosted the ‘Claremont Grand National’ a game full of fun and hilarious commentary courtesy of Karen that induced plenty of giggles.
Resident; Phyllis commented “That was the funniest game I have played in a long time.”
Before the race we stopped at the 1st fence for refreshments and played a word game to see how many we could make from ‘The Grand National’ before watching the actual race.
It was certainly Phyllis's day as her sweepstake horse romped ahead to win!!!
