Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey
Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Fun in the Sun!
Well another busy day at Claremont Parkway. After breakfast the morning started with 1:1 room visits talking about sweet and savoury foods with memories of sweets from our childhoods.
With the weather being so wonderful Resident Mary and Karen took a stroll around the Claremont gardens, Mary named all the flowers and plants, she explained what our gardener needs to do with them over the coming weeks before catching up with Una for a good old chin-wag.
After lunch several more residents gathered in the garden for our pompom exercise routine before playing a few target games, we all found the archery a little tricky!
Our glorious afternoon finished with a quiz on sweet and savoury foods a before we got to nibble on some of our own courtesy of the homes hospitality team.

1940s Party to Celebrate VE Day
Today we marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940s party to remember.
During breakfast Elain decorated the home in red, white and blue and we all enjoyed an afternoon of music and dancing courtesy of Lesley Ann Vocalist Entertainer who sang songs from different eras including many wartime favourites such as 'We'll Meet Again'.
Chef Vera and the hospitality team served a wonderful roast dinner before whipping up a delicious selection of freshly-baked cheese straws and cream scones for afternoon tea all washed down with a good old British cuppa!

Attending Community 'Mature Drivers Show'
Driving is an important part of our everyday life and Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (NSRA) are keen to help to keep mature drivers driving safer for longer.
Today we joined the team at The Rushden Goods Shed for the ‘Mature Driver’s Roadshow’ as they covered all aspects of driving aimed at drivers 60+
It was wonderful to meet so many new people and have the opportunity to invite them to our beautiful homes for a ‘Tea and Tour’. Our home managers were on hand to answer any questions about later life care within Claremont Parkway Care Home - Barchester Healthcare and Collingtree Park Care Home - Barchester Healthcare.

Stone Painting for Visiting Children
Today's arts & crafts group enjoyed stone painting today in readiness to hide them in our garden for the visiting local school children to find as part of a prize winning game.

Animal Therapy
As part of our continued animal therapy, we had a visit from Margaret and her gorgeous guinea pig. Our residents love all animal types and this little fur baby beings a bundle of delight.
In the afternoon we talked about old TV Game Shows. We had a great time remembering who hosted which before playing a shopping memory game that reminded us of the conveyor belt on The Generation Game and a round of Play Your Cards Right before finishing our fun afternoon with a game of Blanket Blank. No cheque book and pen but lots of laughs were had by all!

'Doreen's Day Out'
Our competitive table top gaming ladies enjoyed a game of 'Doreen's Day Out' which involves landing on different coloured squares and either winning money or giving money to the bank!
The first to finish with £300 is the winner. It’s a really enjoyable game that had the ladies giggling throughout.
