Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey
Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Happy Carers Week!
We are so proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.
On Monday, Chef and the hospitality team provided them with a various sweet, and savoury goodies to enjoy during their break times and on Tuesday, the team were invited to 'take a break' with home manager; Jacob as he took time to thank them personally for everything they do.
Deputy Manager; Amancita Palero and Registered Nurse; Nicoleta Cercel surprised the team with a home baked, and beautifully decorated cake which tasted as good as it looked!
Chef Vera completed the treat table with one of their favourites; her famous cheese straws. We will continue to shower our wonderful carers this week with all the love they deserve, in appreciation for their hard work and dedication to our residents, and one another.

Inter-Home Pen Pals
Knowing our residents love to make new friends, activities coordinator; Karen couldn't miss the opportunity to connect with the residents of Ritson Lodge Care Home - Barchester Healthcare whilst on holiday in Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk.
The activities team; Karen and Elain worked with several Claremont Parkway residents to write up introductory letters that included a photo and a short paragraph about each of them.
These profiles were hand delivered by Karen earlier today alongside a mountain of fresh bakes courtesy of Chef Vera for all to enjoy at Ritson Lodge.
Karen received a very warm welcome on her surprise visit and was taken on a tour of Ritson Lodge's beautiful communities by Home Administrator; Jo Dunlop and being introduced to many of their residents and Host, Reece Parker.
We look forward to receiving their resident responses and setting up a this inter-home 'Pen Pal Friendship Group'. The team hope to bring everyone together over zoom in the coming weeks before planning an actual meetup during the summer!

D-Day 80th Anniversary Remembered
Our residents honoured the bravery and sacrifice of those involved in the D-Day landings this Thursday when our care home held a special commemoration event to remember this pivotal moment in history.
Residents shared their memories and stories, and we watched a documentary that brought the events of 6th June 1944 to life. We were joined by vocalist Steve Jay who took us back to the era in style through his wonderful performance that had us all singing along, before settling down for a traditional afternoon tea with homemade scones, cream and jam.
We will never forget the heroic men and women who sacrificed everything to protect our freedom.

Carers Gift of Music
Our residents had a lovely afternoon singing along to Pete who is one half of singing duo Nice N Easy Activity Show Community Group.
What a performance! With a selection of songs such as The lady is tramp, Tie a yellow ribbon, Sweet Caroline and many more, Pete had everyone up and dancing.
We'd like to say a big thank you to one of our care assistants who kindly booked the entertainment as a treat for our residents...Thank you Miranda it was a fabulous surprise.

International Tea Day
For International Tea Day on 21st May the activities team brewed up several tea related activities for our residents to enjoy. We started the morning by getting creative with personalised mug designs, poetry recitals and fact finding all about tea!
In the afternoon we had a quiz and some sensory tea tasting before finishing the themed day with the best activity of all, a survey to determine the 'Best Dunker' which biscuit would be the winner and survive the longest?

International Day of Families
On the 15th May we celebrated International Day of Families. The activities team visited residents in their rooms to talk about their families and what makes them happy, we looked through family photos; old and new, it was wonderful to hear their memories and stories around each photo.
After lunch the lovely Jenny Simmonds joined us to sing a range of songs from an ABBA medley to There'll Always Be an England, Reach for the Stars and The Power of Love, all of which had us toe tapping an arm waving together as one big extended Claremont Parkway family!
