Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Twelfth Night Bakes

We learnt about the Twelfth Night today and the traditions surrounding it, we had a go at making some small traditional twelfth night fruit cakes. We all definitely had some questions about what they were going to look like but we all enjoyed tasting our success!

Animal Magic!

From rabbits to reptiles our residents just love spending time with Lucia's Tiny Farm animals. It's a Happy New Year all around at Claremont when these little fellows visit. 'Bernard' the Bearded Dragon was the star of the show!

Proud to be rated 'GOOD' by CQC

Our team members and residents have been celebrating since we received the news that Claremont Parkway Care Home has been rated ‘GOOD’ by the Care Quality Commission!

The CQC inspected the home on November 17th and 21st 2022 and rated the home, run by Barchester Healthcare, as ‘Good’ in all five areas of the inspection – safe, responsive, effective, caring and well-led.

The report stated that residents at the home received very good, person-centred care that met their needs and improved their wellbeing from a kind, well organised staff team and that the culture at the home was open, positive and empowering.

Also highlighted in the report was that people were happy with the care they received, felt safe and well looked after, were relaxed with staff and were treated with kindness and respect. One relative said: “It’s a lovely place. The care couldn’t be better, the staff go that extra mile.”

Another relative commented: “The service is very good, there is nothing to improve at all – 10 out of 10.”

Our staff were found to be very happy working at the home, one staff member said: “The manager is a leader. People work for people.”

Planting New Life

The residents enjoyed a spot of indoor gardening, by planting some herbs. With many different varieties to choose from such as cress, lemon balm, chamomile, parsley, basil, oregano and many others. The residents look forward to seeing them grow in the new year and sampling the delights for themselves.
