Activities at Cossins House Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Lisa Unsworth
I have been working in care since the age of 16, when leaving school. Over the years, I have been a senior care assistant, administrator, home trainer and activities coordinator. I really enjoy working with the elderly residents.

Life at Cossins House Care Home
Our love for dogs with ITV News
Residents at Cossins House were delighted to talk with Martin Stew from ITV news about company of dogs with Pet Therapy. Martin Stew visited our care home with his camera crew to see how our residents felt about having pets. Our resident Pat said ‘I always knew I would be a star one day’. It was a pleasure for our residents to watch the news together and see themselves on TV.
Cassie
Spending time with Cassie means the world to our residents. Remembering our own dogs from home and still being able to enjoy these lovely pets is amazing. Cassie comes to visit us every Tuesday with her owner Rosie. Cassie likes to show us tricks by rolling over, giving her paw and giving us company. We love to walk around the garden with her and spend time chatting to Rosie.
Wildlife
Our residents love to wake up in the morning and look out at our beautiful garden to enjoy nature and overlook our wonderful garden. Each day we have a visit from the deer who enjoy running through our grounds amongst other wonderful wildlife. We see many of squirrels, a lovely woodpecker, pheasant and rabbits. Wildlife is a favourite of ours and we love to keep an eye on the different animals we can see daily.
Christmas Preparations
Residents at Cossins have started preparing for Christmas 2023 with handmade crafts. We have been making wreaths from pipe cleaners to put on our tree. Our residents love to be hands on and make things so we have begun a weekly Christmas Craft Club.
Baby Boppers
A delightful afternoon of fun, singing, music, happiness and smiles all round when Baby Boppers visited Cossins. We spent the afternoon, cuddling and playing toys with the lovely babies and singing songs together. It was a joyful and fun afternoon and we look forward to seeing them again soon.
Abbey Road comes to Cossins
Residents at Cossins House love to listen to music by the Beatles. It reminds them of times at home with their loved ones. We decided to bring Abbey Road to Cossins House by designing our own crosswalk outside Cossins House for a fun photoshoot. All residents enjoyed taking part and spent most of our afternoon laughing and reminiscing.
