Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.
As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. Creative Arts
Happy Saturday, everyone! Today’s adventure? Painting lovely primulas from our garden under the warm sunshine! Did you know that primulas are not just stunning spring flowers, but they also symbolize youth and the vibrance of life? Their vibrant colours bring joy and cheer to any garden.
We learnt some amazing facts too.
These bright delights have featured in classical literature and popular culture; Shakespeare included the primrose flower as a symbol in many of his plays. More recently, in Suzanne Collins’ 2008 young adult novel The Hunger Games, main character Katniss’ sister is named after the evening primrose.
More than 400 species of primroses exist, appearing in many colours including red, pink, purple and gold. They’re a hardy flower, thriving in mountain ranges, marshes and other varied habitats.
Primrose means “first rose,” and it’s certainly accurate. Primroses are one of the first flowers to appear in many different environments.
Our activities Co Ordinator's carefully structure each activity to be accessible be informative, educational and fun.

Linda and Flora
A Special Visit: Linda & Flora Bring Joy to Our Residents!
Today was a heart-warming day at our care home as Linda, our amazing guide dog trainer, introduced Flora – the adorable 5-month-old puppy in training!
✨ Highlights of the Visit:
- Puppy Love: Flora’s playful energy and wagging tail instantly brightened everyone’s day! Residents couldn't resist showering her with love and affection.
- Learning Moments: Linda shared insights about Flora's training process, teaching residents about the important roles guide dogs play in supporting those in need.
- Bonding Time: Watching residents interact with Flora not only lifted spirits but also sparked joyful conversations and reminiscent tales of their own pets.
Flora’s visit reminded us all of the warmth and connection that animals bring into our lives. We can't wait to watch her grow and eventually help someone in need!

Christmas Crafts
We have been busy making pomanders! It was so interesting to learn about the history of this Christmas tradition.
Did you know that in the 18th and 19th centuries, pomanders were often presented as gifts at Christmas, as the fragrance and the work that went into it were both considered precious! We love Crafty afternoons, were our residents really can put their skills to the test.
