Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Katherine Cork
Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.
As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home
Professor of Nursing visits Crandon Springs
Residents, relatives and staff at Crandon Springs were treated to a talk by professor of nursing, Dr Elizabeth Rosser, within the comforts of the care home.
Dr Rosser gave a talk about ‘Nursing in the Developing World’ and invited questions from those present, which included her friend and retired nurse, Eileen, who is a resident at the home.
It was a privilege to welcome her to Crandon Springs and her afternoon appearance was extremely well received, with fellow resident Sylvia saying that it ‘was the best talk that we have ever had here’, and that she ‘learned so much from it’.
Thank you again Dr Rosser, it was so kind of you to spare some of your time here and it was appreciated by all.

Cuppa with a Copper
A big thank you to our local PCSOs for visiting us at Crandon Springs! They held a meet and greet, answered loads of questions and gave an insight to their typical day, whilst a few of the residents who have family connections within the police, reminisced with a few stories of their own.
It was wonderful to have them share valuable safety tips, answer questions, and engage with our residents and staff. Their presence and dedication to our community is truly appreciated, and we look forward to welcoming them back again later in the year.

John's Memory Gym!
This week is choc-a-block with activities and yesterday we had a return visit from John Ford, who came in to entertain and challenge residents in equal measure with his Memory Gym of stories, fables, poetry and even arithmetic!
Full of exuberance and energy, John brought poetry to life and laughter to the room, followed by residents reminiscing with and reciting their own stories and favourite poems of old.
John has quickly become a favourite amongst the residents’ and they are very much looking forward to him returning again.

Singalong Specials
We’ve had a busy couple of days here at Crandon Springs with the Open Day on Saturday and musical performances from Michael Angus, as well as a visit from the The Sundaes at the weekend.
Michael visits us on a weekly basis as part of our music therapy and plays a variety of different classics as part of a sing-along with our residents, whilst The Sundays performed a lively set of 50’s favourites and swinging 60’s specials which went down a storm!

Wedding Bells at Crandon Springs!
Wedding Bells at Crandon Springs!
Crandon Springs played host to a beautiful wedding this afternoon…virtually! Our glamourous resident Kay looked resplendent in her green top and matching fascinator as she watched her darling niece Tess get married this afternoon.
With the wedding taking place a little too far from Kay, the family and Crandon Springs worked together to set up a live link for Kay and her friend and fellow resident Barbara to enjoy the event and its beautiful surroundings, on the big screen in our cinema room!
Kay and Barbara enjoyed some chocolates and raised a glass to Tess and the family, along with General Manager Alexandria and Activities coordinator Emily, with the beautiful day going without a hitch.
From everyone here at Crandon Springs, congratulations to the newly-weds on their big day, and also to the wider family as a whole!
