Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork
Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.
As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Crandon Springs Care Home

Barchester Care Awards
What a fabulous time we had recently as we celebrated our very own Head Housekeeper, Louise, who was the divisional winner for The Hospitality Champion of the Year award!
It was a brilliant afternoon as we celebrated with a party to cheer on Louise who had been invited along with our General Manger, Meg, to join all the other winners in an award ceremony.
We are so very proud of Louise who demonstrates passion, commitment and teamwork every day to make a real difference to our residents at Crandon Springs.

Ballroom Dancing!
We were so excited to welcome Jenny and Terry, who are ex professional ball room dancers.
It was such a lovely afternoon for our residents, with many of them reminiscing about their own times spent on the dance floor.
They dazzled our residents with the performance and of course their professional costumes. It was such a pleasure to see our residents swaying along to the music and even joining Jenny and Terry for a dance.
One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live musical entertainment. Resident involvement in choosing genres along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.

Visit to Cheddar Gorge
We have been busy at Crandon Springs lately and have been getting out and about in the mini bus
Our trips out are always at the request of our residents and this time they wanted to take a trip to the glorious landscape of Cheddar Gorge.
It was such a lovely experience to take in stunning views and scenery that Cheddar Gorge has to offer.
To top off a great day out we made a pit stop for some delicious Ice cream. Its always a pleasure to enjoy these experiences with our lovely residents.
Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Vintage Day
Residents and staff enjoyed a fun filled day at Crandon Springs recently as we went back to the 1950's with our Vintage Day!
Residents enjoyed a pamper in the morning as they had their hair styled in the Salon keeping in with the 1950's theme.
Lunch was a special treat as our residents had the opportunity to eat in Crandon’s Diner. With a selection of delicious treats such as hot dogs and burgers which were enjoyed by everyone.
The fun of course didn’t stop there with the afternoon filled with Karaoke and Dancing to some of the much loved classics of the 50s.
At Crandon Springs that's what we like to do - create memories, and ensure our residents are leading full enriched lives.

Classic Car Show
What a brilliant time we had recently at Crandon Springs as we held our very own classic car show!
Residents, families, and staff all came together to admire some beautiful vintage cars from The Classic and Historic Motor club.
It was a great opportunity to reminisce with our residents about vehicles that they once drove and loved!
Hosting events for friends and family members to join us is an essential part of our activities program and we are always looking for new ideas to bring the wider community into our home.

We reached the top!
Our team at Crandon Springs put their walking boots on recently as they took on the challenge to climb the Pen-Y-Fan summit to raise funds for Barchester's Charitable Foundation.
The typical British weather was a challenge on the day with rain and heavy fog and mist, but through sheer grit and determination the team were able to make it to the top.
They raised an incredible amount of £940 for the Foundation who supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.
A big well done to the incredible team for all their hard work!
