Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Hallelujah for the 'Allelujah Chorus'!

We welcomed 'The Allelujah Chorus' to our home today, and they were absolutely marvellous with all of our residents.  Bringing song sheets with them, the choir and residents sang along all morning to traditional festive songs and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.   We were incredibly touched and moved when the choir visited residents who weren’t well enough to join in this morning, by going to their rooms and singing to them privately. This is truly meaningful to our residents, and importantly that they feel included in all of the events we hold.  We wish 'Allelujah Chorus' members a wonderful Christmas !

A Festival of Trees

What a wonderful sight we saw at Worcester Cathedral this week.  This annual event brings together businesses, schools and charities to showcase a spectacular array of christmas trees to celebrate their organisations.  It was truly an awe inspiring experience to see the themes and work that had gone into each tree, and residents admired each and every one!

A Sparkling Christmas!

Life at Elgar Court continues to thrive and we are looking forward to our second year in our home.  National celebrations and family-friendly events are just some of the ways that we ensure our residents remain connected with their loved ones and the wider community.

Community Action Christmas Fayre

For the last three years, Elgar Court has had the pleasure visiting the annual Community Action Christmas Fayre and donating our traditional Christmas hamper for their raffle. Residents really enjoyed meeting other members of the local community, having a go at the exciting raffle and singing along to the fabulous choir, Vox Rox choir! Pictured with the Prize hamper is our resident Jenny and Susie Forbes, the Christmas Fayre organiser. And the lucky winner of the prize hamper was the life long volunteer for community action and deserved winner!

Community Action Malvern and District charity has the most amazing staff and volunteers, and is a cornerstone of support in the town. One of their biggest aims is to reduce social isolation for older and disabled people living here. Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Tills are Jingling!

It’s always a joy going out and about with our residents, and today the Christmas shopping buzz was hopping from aisle to aisle at the Hop Pocket in Bishops Frome.  This is an absolute gem of a shopping village with something to suit all tastes – including a wonderful café to enjoy freshly cooked lunches for hungry residents.  Residents came away with Christmas gifts for loved ones – but we can’t show you what they bought as it will spoil the surprise on our loved ones faces!

Closer to home, other residents walked to Barnards Green to do a spot of shopping and get the local buzz!  They even had time to admire the glorious Postbox topper themed for Christmas!

If you would like to join in with some of our events, please do download our Countdown to Christmas Calendar, or pick one up from our home and choose an event each day to join in with us - We look forward to seeing friends old and new!

Malvern College Concert

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Malvern College school today, and enjoyed piano recitals and singing from this incredibly talented group of pupils. Led by Jonathan and Joanna, teachers as Malvern College, we were delighted by their singing and enjoyed singing along to traditional Christmas songs - especially the animated song "The 12 Days of Christmas!" We always look forward to engaging with our local community, and creating moments of joy between generations and getting to know each other.
