Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Life at Fairview House Care Home

International Chocolate Day

Today we celebrated international chocolate day with some beautiful treats prepared by our chef, marbled chocolate block accompanied with fresh summer strawberries and cream.  It was fair to say that all our residents and staff enjoyed this.

Dennis said “that was good can I have some more” Margaret said “that was lovely can I have the recipe”

Book Club with Dr Tim Howard

Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.

The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.

Just passing through

Our residents had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.

Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.

Our residents found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world.

Virtual singing session

Our homes had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy.

Our residents were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees.

There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Jubilee celebrations

The whole home got busy for one of the biggest parties of the year. The queens platinum Jubilee! It was celebrated throughout the whole home and outside with singers, entertainers, cocktail bars and of course an afternoon tea fit for a queen for the whole home. It was absolutely magnificent.

Welcome to the G&J pub

A father’s Day special where we celebrated In style with pints of lager and cupcake decorating! It was a full house with a buzz like no other…or was that the beer? Whatever the case, everyone was overjoyed and covered in cake  by the end of the day!
