Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Fairview House Activities Team

Activities Team

Chloe, Cecilia and Veronica make up our fantastic Activities Team here at Fairview House.

They develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which encourages mobility, social contact, independence and fun. Each and every person can thrive and live to their full potential with no day ever being the same. They bring great enthusiasm and spark to the home and have one passion, which is to deliver an amazing and vibrant activities programme to cater to all tastes and abilities.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Fairview House Care Home

Alpaca adventure!

Fairview House care home, in Aberdeen, was full of animal mischief on Wednesday when a group of alpacas came to visit the home. Residents at Fairview House were pleasantly surprised to see their new furry friends roaming around their home and rooms as Claireville Alpacas paid a visit.

Kindness in the community

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Lord Provost, David Cameron who kindly has donated a brilliant cake to the home for the Kings Coronation tomorrow!

We also had the most amazing bunting given to us from Kirkhill Primary School which we have proudly used to decorate our dining room area, this is such a kind gesture and we are so thankful to everyone!

Interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall

We had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

The event was highly enjoyable for everyone, and we are eagerly anticipating King Charles' coronation.

Baking Afternoon

Residents had a fun filled afternoon making cheese cakes. Residents made their favourites including; Biscoff and Oreo, and they turned out amazing!

Everyone had such fun together and already can't wait for our next baking activity.

Balloon Volleyball

This morning we had such a laugh playing balloon volleyball. So many residents joined in and it was amazing to see everyone working together as a team and helping one another during the game!

Our residents love sport based activities and it is a great way to include movement alongside hand eye coordination into our activities programme.

Easter Sunday

We want to say a massive thank you to Marine Technical Limits who kindly donated Easter eggs to all the residents this year!

Everyone was so happy to receive an egg and get a special visit from the Easter Bunny. We had such a fun morning and there were so many smiles and laughs all-round the home, it was amazing seeing everyone so happy!

Happy Easter to all from Fairview!
