Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Life at Fairview House Care Home

Residents build Gingerbread House

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Fairview House care home in Aberdeen love any excuse to get creative so when they found out it was Gingerbread House Day on December 12, they didn’t need any persuading to get cracking!  The staff and residents asked head chef Alex to whip up a big batch of gingerbread for them and then got busy decorating with icing, chocolate smarties, jelly sweets and sprinkles to make some of the glitziest gingerbread houses in town.

Donkey Sanctuary

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Deck the halls with holly!

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Fairview House care home, in Aberdeen, have been decking the halls, getting out the tinsel and unravelling the fairy lights, ready for a whole host of Christmas celebrations.

Fairview’s residents and staff have been busy putting up our Christmas trees, decorations and light displays to make the home as festive as can be. The residents have also been crafting a variety of decorations around the home including a giant wreath made from real forestry. The home is looking beautiful and we already cannot wait for Christmas day to come!

General Manager, Karren said: “Christmas is such a magical time and our residents love nothing better than to spend time creating decorations for the home and then we all help to put them up together.  It is so special to be able to share these rituals and we all love to see the home decorated and filled with twinkly lights.”

Remembrance Rose

Today we took 3 of our lovely ladies out to help plant a Queen Elizabeth Remembrance Rose which was kindly donated to us by Fiona.

Even though it was a little chilly we all loved being outside and making sure the Rose was being planted with care.

We are excited to check on the Rose over the next few weeks and months to see how it is going to blossom!

Residents cheer on ENG-GER-LAND!

Residents and staff at Fairview care home in Aberdeen are getting ready to cheer on the home sides throughout the World Cup.  The home is decked out with flags and residents can’t wait to enjoy the action over the next few weeks.  Everyone is so excited to see how Gareth’s boys get on!

Fans of the beautiful game at Fairview are delighted to be able to watch this year’s fixtures.  Residents and staff are getting together to watch the matches and celebrate with a favourite tipple and footie-inspired bar snacks whipped up by head chef Alex.
