Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

‘My Name is Not Wigs’ Virtual Talk

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.

‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.

All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!

Scrap Book Afternoon

We had decided to bring residents together and spend a lovely afternoon scrap booking some of the things we loved to do.

We was also treated today to a lovely reminiscing session by Alan from Alzheimer Scotland and Aberdeen Library. It's been interesting what we have learned about George Street and bon accord centre.

Everyone is already eager to hear more in another session in future months to come about union Street!

A visit from a furry friend!

Meet Sukie! A lovable elderly girl who was eager to meet lots of people and get her cuddles in. The residents have adored meeting her and absolutely loved the cuddles.

Sukie spent the time going round as many people as she could saying hello and providing a little bit of fuzzy joy and companionship to all who needed.

Sukie is a lhasa apso breed making her fur hypoallergenic, for those with sensitivities to animals.
