Activities at Fairview House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.
Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.
Fairview House Activities Team
Chloe, Cecilia and Veronica make up our fantastic Activities Team here at Fairview House.
They develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which encourages mobility, social contact, independence and fun. Each and every person can thrive and live to their full potential with no day ever being the same. They bring great enthusiasm and spark to the home and have one passion, which is to deliver an amazing and vibrant activities programme to cater to all tastes and abilities.

Alice and Wonderland Afternoon Tea
What a brilliant turn out we had for our Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea!
The dining room was full of residents and family joining us to enjoy some delicious bakes and tea/coffee.
Everyone loved getting involved and wearing their hats which were made yesterday by the residents specially for today.
An amazing afternoon filled with smiles and laughter all round!
A walk on the wild side
Oooh what kind of beastie is that then? A puddock? Everyone loved our visit from The Critter Keeper, not everyone was a fan of the snake!
Wedding anniversary
Congratulations on your Sapphire Wedding Anniversary Hilda and Jim from all the team and residents at Fairview House. Married 65 years ago at North Church Queen’s Street and held their wedding breakfast at The Marcliffe Hotel.
We hope you enjoy your afternoon tea!
Royal Botanic Garden
Our homes enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with Community Engagement Manager, Charlotte Walker, and Botanic Cottage Operations Co-ordinator, Laura Gallagher.
The residents were thrilled to learn more about the history of the beautiful Garden, which is now a home to an impressive plant collection from around the world.
Charlotte and Laura also gave a demonstration of making fresh herbal tea and were happy to answer our questions. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined.
Beautiful bouquets
Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.
During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.
We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.
Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.
A trip to Tesco
This morning we took some of our lovely ladies for a wander to Tesco and for some lunch to the café as well. It was so lovely to see how much they enjoyed, chatting to each others, laughing, sharing life stories just having a great time outside. Their smile tells how much fun they had and it was absolutely amazing to experience such joy. Ellen was over the moon and said she felt like was her birthday today and was having lunch with her best friends. Margaret and Myra were chatting away and made a lovely friendship and Mary was all smiles.
