Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Falmouth Court Care Home

Elvis Presley comes to Falmouth Court!

Our residents had a wonderful musical treat this week as they enjoyed the musical delights of Elvis from our guest singer "Tory". Every one was thrilled to be taken back in time and hear the wonderful tunes of yester year.

We very much look forward to the next visit from "Tory".

Remembrance Poppies

Over the weekend our residents came together in a crafty spirit to create poppies, paying tribute to Remembrance Day. An occasion deeply significant to many of our residents who personally experienced the impacts of war. The residents thoroughly enjoyed being able to express their creativity, while also cherishing the meaning behind them and reminiscing on the times of the past.

Karen from our activities team then loaded up our minibus and took them to Penryn Memorial Garden to lay their crafted poppies. Of course a trip to Falmouth Golf club on the way back for a hot drink was of course in order!

Piano Man!

We had a lovely visit from a musician with a difference this week at Falmouth Court. Kallan a local young man came to play the piano for our residents in our beautiful Garden lounge. Kallan is a very talented chap who is pretty much self taught and plays without using sheet music. Everything he plays is from ear and memory.

It was great to have a different style of music for our residents who were astonished by his abilities. We all very much enjoyed hearing him play.

Magician & Cocktail's

What a wonderful and magical evening we had at Falmouth Court for our Magician and Cocktails evening! Haley our general manager made cocktails for everyone from French Martini's to a delicious Rum Punch and everything in-between. Our residents, their families and members of the local community came and enjoyed this fun evening with a fantastic magic show from John Martin. Everyone was amazed by his talents with ooh's and ahh's a plenty.

Visit to Helston Railway

Our residents had a lovely spooky trip out this week to the Helston Railway. Helston Railway being the most southern railway in the UK were running some special Halloween themed trips so we thought we would load up the mini bus and go along for a ride. With lots of pumpkins and spooktacular decorations along the way, everyone had a fantastic time. With coffees and hot chocolates in hand, tales of train rides of yester year were shared by our residents as we steamed along the Cornish countryside. One resident 'Joe' was taken back to childhood when he used to spend time at Liverpool Street Station taking note of the train engine numbers.

Drums for Fun

What a wonderful and fun afternoon we had with a visit from Drums 4 Fun. They provide percussion interactive experience workshops designed to promote and improve mental health, self-esteem and wellbeing. Our residents had a fabulous time and some even got up dancing while listening to some tunes of yester year.

Everyone was left wanting more and are looking forward to the next visit.
