Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Enjoying the Sun at Last!

We loaded up our minibus and took some of our ladies down to Life's A Beach Cafe this week to get some delicious ice-creams and enjoy the sun. Everyone had the best time looking out to sea and reminiscing over past seaside holidays in the past. Trips out are a huge part of Barchester's Life Enrichment program. We try to get out several times each week.

Royal Ascot at Falmouth Court 2024

We had our own version of Ascot Races here at Falmouth Court for our residents & their families!

Everyone gathered in our lounge and enjoyed Prosecco along with some delicious Strawberries and cream.

Hugh our Home Services Advisor bought in a vintage game called horse racing game Escaldo. Everyone had some 'fun money' to bet with, the biggest winnings in one race being £250!

A truly fun afternoon that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Carers Week 2024

Carers Week, taking place from 10–16 June 2024, is a UK-wide awareness campaign seeking to increase visibility for carers with decision makers, services, employers, communities, and businesses.

Here at Falmouth Court we have laid on a huge array of snacks and treats for our wonderful team of carers. Our residents very much appreciate the wonderful work they do.

Motorbike Show & BBQ

What a marvelous success our Motorbike Show was. A huge thank you to the Polgooth Paragraph for coming along and our Head Chef Jonathan Moyle for arranging the lovely day. They all set off from Polgooth Inn and headed down to our beautiful gardens here at Falmouth Court where our Kitchen team hosted a BBQ as a thank you. Thank you to Brian Etherington Meats, Farm Shop & Butchery Academy for their kind donation towards the BBQ!

Our residents, friends, families and the local community had the best afternoon viewing the different motorbikes and enjoying the sun whilst making new friends.

Beach Trip

Here we have some wonderfully heartwarming pictures of a lovely trip to Gylly Beach last week for our residents. Our Activities team aim to run 2-3 trips each week so that everyone can enjoy a life enriching visit to one of Cornwall's many area's of outstanding natural beauty. Of course a visit to Gylly Beach Café afterwards was essential for everyone to enjoy a coffee and cake.

Stocking up on plants!

Our General Manager, Haley took a trip to Pengelly Garden Centre to stock up on requests from our residents meeting.

Among the requests from gardening club were petunias, begonias and fruit trees! Haley managed to select fruit trees following consultation with our residents who all agreed ‘Worcester Pearmain’ was the apple of choice.

As we move into summer months the garden becomes a hive of activity and it’s always glorious to be surrounded by flowers and home grown produce!
