Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

'Wishing Well' Curry Night Outing

A fantastic night at Culmington Village hall for their curry night and another wish from our wishing well came true for Doris she asked to go out for a curry so we did. She said the meal was beautiful and the atmosphere was just great and what she needed. Joe and Howard also enjoyed a curry so jumped at the chance to come out when asked.

Howard said seeing the Princess was just the icing on the cake to a beautiful day jean said she was so excited when Princess Anne stopped and asked if she had been warm enough waiting and had we come far jean could wait to tell her we had come from Field House residential home Church Stretton.

Doodles the Sheep

Tracey, Doodles' owner, has visited us before with other animals she looks after through being unwanted or injured but it was the first time Doodles had ever visited anywhere like Field House and he was very well behaved!

“Fantastic” said Mary “I can’t believe how long his coat is and is so well behaved”.

Betty thought it was great that Doodles wanted to eat her left over cake. The visit was a great topic of conversation for days after.

Nursery Visit

Such a lovely visit from little Acorns Nursery the residents had the children had such big smiles on their faces as they walked in to the conservatory Howard said how lovely to see their happy faces and that you can tell they are getting to know us and some of the children headed straight to the residents to show them their individual scrap books of themselves at Nursery and all the fun things that they have done. Before the visit we had a discussion about what craft group we could arrange for the children and the residents came up with making and colouring in wind mills. The windmills were a success and everyone loved them even the residents! And at the end of the visit the children sang nursery songs to the residents and they joined in.
