Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Harvir (Head of Maintenance) for winning employee of the month of May. Harvir wins a £25 voucher to spend at a store of his choice.

Harvir has worked tirelessly to prepare Fountains for our first residents and maintaining the home and gardens to an extremely high standard.

His fellow colleagues voted him employee of the month for his hard work ethic and his desire to help everyone, always with a huge smile on his face.

We are very lucky to have Harvir in the team.

Well done.

A kind member of the community has been keeping herself occupied during lockdown, by knitting dolls for our residents.

These soft dolls are a welcome addition for our dedicated Memory Lane Community.

Thank you Cath.

Fountains supports those in need.

Fountains staff team joined forces to donate supplies for those most vulnerable in the community, at this difficult time.

The team gave generously and an impressive supply of dried and tinned foods was delivered to The Renewal Christian Centre in Solihull, where Helping Hands were working hard to co-ordinate deliveries.

Lorraine HSA for Fountains learnt of the amazing work that was being carried out to ensure several deliveries a day were sent out across the Borough. The food packages provide variety and support a balanced diet as well as including toiletries, to those most in need.

Working closely with Solihull Council and Age UK, Helping Hands support is invaluable at this current time and is ran entirely by a dedicated volunteer team.

To offer your support please visit www.renewalcc.com or call 0121 711 7300.

Thank you Helping Hands and thank you to the staff team at Fountains for your generosity.

Magic Table

At Barchester, we are always looking for ways to improve our residents’ quality of life. With this in mind the Magic Table has been introduced and Fountains is extremely lucky to have a magic table in our dedicated memory lane community.

The Magic Table is an interactive light projector that was originally developed in The Netherlands. It is a specialist piece of technology designed to support residents living with dementia and is proven to help staff promote stimulation through specialised games.

The colourful light projections, alongside audio, respond to hand and arm movements, enabling residents to play with the light itself, increasing both movement and stimulation.

There are many key benefits for our residents which include, positive effect on wellbeing by improving mood, reducing apathy and restlessness, increasing engagement levels, increased physical and social activity, increased positive emotion, to name but a few.
