Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

A Double Celebration

Fountains staff team enjoyed an afternoon of sweet delights with pots of tea to celebrate the Queen's birthday and National Tea Day.

Activities Coordinator, Bex, decorated the lounge area on Parkridge community whilst Head Chef, Daryl Frost, showcased his baking skills.

There was an array of cakes to suit all tastes and dietary needs: gluten free chocolate brownies, Victoria sponge, deconstructed white chocolate cheesecake, pineapple upside down cake and lemon posset with shortbread crumb.

They were all delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves! We are so looking forward to enjoying events like this with our residents.

A Touching Tribute

The staff performed 'Thank You for the Music' for the training they received over recent weeks. Bex, our talented Activities Coordinator', became 'Frieda' from Abba, and cleverly adapted the words to 'Thank You for the Training'. The trainers loved the tribute and were really touched. It gave us a taste of her wonderful voice and her sense of fun, which our residents will be able to enjoy.

Meet the Team

The exchange of keys also coincided with Fountains welcoming its first cohort of key staff.

The team is made up of a wealth of experience along with some wonderful and kind personalities, even boasting an Activities Coordinator who has performed with Sir Cliff Richard and Leo Sayer!

Following an extensive induction programme, the team are super excited, prepared and eager to support our future residents.

Handover of Keys

Fountains Care Home is finished and ready for residents to move in!

John Clive, Project Manager for Seddon Construction Ltd, handed over the keys to General Manager, Jacqui Harris, to mark completion of the new residential home.

It took 18 months to build on the Stratford Road site, which, for 30 years, was occupied by Shirley Aquatics.

It took 94,000 bricks to complete this two storey home and the stunning, contemporary building is surrounded by greenery and landscaped gardens. The grounds also boast a serene sensory garden and seating, with some rooms having their own patio areas.

Light and bright is the theme throughout, with 150 windows looking out from luxury en-suite bedrooms, five star dining rooms and comfortable lounges. The upper level has balconies and a cinema room and downstairs is a café which will be a community hub for residents, their families and neighbours in the community.

The new Fountains team are currently completing preparations before throwing open the doors of the home so that the first residents can move in very soon. Date to be announced!

Community Friends

Lorraine Shannon HSA was delighted to present a bouquet and a huge thank you to a special member of the community. Val Smith AKA Chatty Val is a neighbour of Fountains Care Home and has watched the birth of Fountains with interest.

She attended the Marketing Suite opening weekend in November and since then has been an important addition to Fountains Care Home.

Val has attended almost all of our events and at recent events she has attended just to help out with washing dishes and even showing people around!

What an amazing Ambassador already for what is going to be an amazing home for our future residents. Val will be a valued presence when we open our doors to our first residents in May and I know she will be appreciated by all when she volunteers her time and self to enrich the lives of our residents.

We are so lucky to have such an amazing neighbour.
