Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Trio of events celebrated

Fountains celebrated Royal Ascot Ladies Day, National Cupcake Day for Alzheimer's Society as well as International Picnic Day.

Our residents dressed up for the occasion and finished off their ascot attire with beautiful hats. The races were enjoyed in the cinema room and a fun sweepstake was ran. The

The weather wasn’t too kind to enjoy International Picnic Day outside in our stunning grounds, so we brought the picnic indoors.

It didn't spoil the fun and the mouth watering picnic was enjoyed with jugs of Pimms and Lemonade followed by delicious homemade cupcakes.

Another fun afternoon spent.

Painting fun

An afternoon spent painting, uncovered some budding artists.

Residents enjoyed producing some lovely pieces of art using aqua paint.

It was fun, relaxing and everyone found a hidden talent!

An enjoyable way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Time to pamper

Our ladies enjoyed a pamper afternoon in the salon followed by a movie evening in the cinema, watching the musical Annie.

We are very lucky to have 3 hairdressers amongst out talented staff team, so they took advantage of our fully kitted out salon and gave our ladies some well deserved pampering.

Then they kicked off their shoes and settled in front of the big screen with a glass of wine.

What a lovely day!

Shirley Lions donate extra laundry bags

Shirley Lions donate extra laundry bags

Shirley Lions have been busy, during lockdown, making laundry bags for NHS and key workers. They very kindly remembered Fountains Care Staff and dropped off additional bags for all our new staff that are joining the team.

They certainly are a colourful addition for our staff team to transport their uniforms to and from work!

Shirley Lions were formed in 1977 and it is a Club that makes charitable donations to individuals and organisations locally, nationally and internationally wherever and in whatever field, the members of the club agree that help should be given. In recent months the club has supported local children with technology to support their needs, and the need to home school, throughout COVID.

The Lions are busy making masks to support the elderly and vulnerable that will be using public transport, should anyone have any requests please contact Lion Jean Wright on 0121 745 599 or 07800 594 412. There is a small charge that will go some way to supporting this wonderful charity, to continue doing the great work they have, since 1977.

Thank you Shirley Lions – we are all extremely grateful.

Queen's Birthday

Fountains celebrated the Queen’s Birthday with a cake fit for a Queen! The cake had so many layers it was too large for a dessert plate. It was delicious and our residents devoured it!

Everyone then relaxed in the Cinema room and enjoyed watching the Royal Salute and music at Windsor Castle.

Carers Week 8th-12th June

Carers Week is a great opportunity for us all to recognise and celebrate the wonderful carers we have in the Barchester family.

Fountains celebrated by making cards for our staff team, with the assistance of our residents.

Everyone then enjoyed freshly baked cupcakes, pots of tea and steaming cups of coffee.

The final treat was a nice bottle of wine or prosecco to enjoy.

A lovely afternoon was shared and our team appreciated the huge THANK YOU for their dedication, compassion and hard work.

We are proud of each and everyone of you!
