Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Hello I am Louise,  my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents.  Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events.  I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.

Garden visits continue

Garden visits continue for our residents.

We’ve been able to offer flexibility and plenty of choice to visit, due to space and availability.

Families and friends have taken full advantage and our residents have benefitted from regular visits from their loved ones.

We’ve been able to facilitate and be part of emotional reunions, first meetings of great grandchildren that were born during lockdown and surprise visits.

It’s such a pleasure and privilege to see the joy these visits bring everyone.

Magic Table Magic

Our residents love the Magic Table and we were able to capture in pictures, Joan playing her favourite bubble game!

To watch the video clip visit our facebook page :  https://m.facebook.com/BarchesterFountains/

A Magic Table is in an interactive piece of technology designed to promote mental and physical stimulation through specialised games.

We are extremely lucky to have a Magic Table in our Memory Lane Community to provide sensory engagement.

It can be both exciting and fun to play as well as a relaxing way to unwind and reduce anxiety.

Fountains Gardening Club

The Gardening Club is born.

Our residents were really keen to get into the gardens and produce some colour.

With raised beds to encourage resident participation, they wasted no time in planting some colourful bedding plants.

Everyone was pleased with the result and looking forward to nurturing the gardens together.

International Friendship Day

Fountains celebrated friendship day by showing our friends in the community how important they are to us.

Our residents had received letters from children in the community who wanted to reach out during these difficult times.

It brought a lot of joy to read these letters and our residents were eager to pen replies and talk about life at Fountains.

They also made friendship bracelets to send with their replies, as well as writing Happy Friendship cards and enjoyed reading poems about friendship.

Friendship Day definitely had the feel good factor.

Hello and Goodbye

Fountains bid the interim Manager Mel McHugh (right) a fond farewell to her returning home in Balsall Common, whilst extending a warm welcome to the new General Manager Sonia Tenniswood (left).

Such a celebration was fitting of a party, so a surprise party was held on the terrace.

Our residents, as always, were involved and secretly began creating decorations.

The kitchen team delivered, once again,  with a delicious home baked cherry cake and a tasty spread.

Mel was presented with a beautiful bouquet and other gifts, as a huge thank you for all her hard work.

Au revoir Mel and hello Sonia!

Pet therapy

Bella visited Fountains to spend the day with our residents and they loved her!

She spent the day entertaining our residents and being entertained.

It was a lovely day and by the end of it, we weren't sure who was more worn out - Bella or our residents.

She will be back!
