Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Newlands Bishop Farm

Lorraine Shannon, HSA of Fountains, visited Newlands Bishop Farm and met with Dawn Jones-Smith to discuss ways the two services can work together in the future.

The farm is part of the Family Care Trust and is currently celebrating their 25th year. They support people with learning disabilities and mental health problems and provide the opportunity to learn work based skills on the farm. This is provided through horticulture, woodwork, gardening, horse care, catering, retail and animal husbandry.

After enjoying a tour and seeing the facilities the Farm agreed to make the hanging baskets for the Marketing Suite due to open on 9th November using their own grown flowers and plants.

Lions Committee Social

Home Services Advisor, Lorraine Shannon accepted an invite to join the Lions Committee Social. The committee enjoyed a talk by Abbie Lake who was a young ambassador for The Lions some years go.

Abbie had returned from a 5 week trip to Borneo, furthering her medicine studies which The Lions had partially funded. Everyone enjoyed learning of how Abbie had benefitted from the trip and a good evening was had by all.

Making the Community Proud

Lorraine Shannon (Home Services Advisor) for Fountains – 2nd from right – joined a budding environmentally friendly group in the local area to help with clearing up litter. 11 bags of rubbish were cleared from a car park, leaving the area spick and span. It was a fun few hours, which ended with some well deserved lunch. Well done to all!
