Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Cuppa and Chat in Solihull

Lorraine Shannon HSA for Fountains Home Care visited the “cuppa and chat” afternoon organised by The Oddfellows in Solihull.  The group has gone from strength to strength, so much so that a larger venue was sought. It was a super turn out on a wet and cold day leading up to Christmas and a lovely time was had by all. There was a lovely buzz of chitter chatter between the members who enjoyed friendship, shortbread and mince pies J

The informal social gathering meet on a monthly basis at The Royal British Legion, Legion Club, Broomfields Hall. Union Road, Solihull, B91 3DH. Non- members receive a free drink for the first two visits, after which you are very welcome to continue to attend-just fund the cost of cuppa.

Held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 2pm-3:30pm- Next meeting Thursday 16th January 2020.

For more information call Joanne on 07542 802430 or email birmingham@oddfellows.co.uk.

Friday Craft Session with Solihull Association

Lorraine Shannon HSA for Fountains enjoyed spending time with the Solihull Association for the Blind at their Friday craft session at Swan Court Yard, Yardley. A fun game of bingo was played using bingo boards made by the members, with some lovely prizes shared out for the winners.

The group meet every Friday morning 10am-2am and are supported to produce some lovely craft items ranging from cane baskets to finger knitted scarves. Some of these items are then placed for sale to raise much needed funds for the association.

The Association is a voluntary group and has been running for over 30 years. They offer activities, clubs, social inclusion, holiday’s and subsided travel to events. For more information to join, volunteer or to make a donation then please contact Jan Kirton on jansab@hotmail.co.uk.

Women in Business

Lorraine Shannon, HSA for Fountains, enjoyed networking alongside the WIBN (Women In Business) networking group. It’s an opportunity for women in Business to come together and share ideas, showcase their businesses and enjoy a presentation from a selected member each month.

The group meet each month and it is a warm and friendly group that support each other to thrive and grow whilst referring business and contacts for each other.

Marketing Suite Opening

Newly appointed General Manager Jackie Harris recently unveiled the marketing suite at Fountains, where she cut the ribbon to the completed part of the home, and toasted the opening with the team members who joined her on the day.

Jackie Harris was joined on the day to mark the opening of the marketing suite by Lorraine Shannon, the Home Services Advisor, Jaci Barton, Divisional Sales and Marketing Manager and the newly appointed Administrator for the home, Katherine Palmer.

Doors opened to the community on the 9th and 10th of November. Guests were invited to preview the services available at the home, and were able to enjoy a spread of sweet treats provided by the hospitality team as they discussed their care needs.

The marketing suite was fitted out by Barchester’s team of expert interior designers, and provides the local community an opportunity to see what the finished 80-bed care home will look like when the home is complete.

The marketing suite features spacious en-suite bedrooms, a comfortable lounge, a dining area incorporating an activities space, and a large assisted spa bathroom; a small glimpse into the luxury home which is still in development.
