Activities at Highfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Kim Quean
Hello, my name is Kim and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield Care Home.
I joined Barchester in June 2024 and I am passionate about ensuring our residents have a varied life enrichment programme and a fulfilling lifestyle here in our home.
The residents' wellbeing and quality of life are important to me, and I enjoy singing, dancing and having fun on a themed day. I graduated from University of Derby BSC, in integrative health and social care in January 2021 and completed NAPA Level 2 Activity Provision in Adult Social Care the same year.
I look forward to working closely with you all, to ensure residents are happy, healthy and thriving.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Highfield Care Home
Medical Detection Dogs
Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.
Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.
We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.
