Activities at Highfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard
Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.
I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.
Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Highfield Care Home

Enjoying daily living chores
As part of our varied life enrichment programme, using our ‘Getting to know to me’ booklets we ensure residents continue to live happy and fulfilled lives.
Resident Ann, who resides in our Memory Lane Community, used to be a nurse. Whilst recently chatting to colleagues Ann told them 'I love to feel helpful and make sure everyone is looked after'.
Head Housekeeper, Stacey spoke to Ann to see if she wanted to help with the morning linen trolley. Well done, Ann! you are very kind and I'm sure Stacey appreciated your help.

Residents visit local community dementia cafe
Residents of Highfield were given a very warm welcome from Kelcbar Community Centre when they attended their local weekly Dementia Café.
Residents enjoyed a light lunch before taking part in dementia friendly activities supported by the volunteers of the centre – a variety of activities were on offer from crafts, dominos, bingo and quizzes with lots of warming cups of tea and biscuits. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon!

National Grandparents Day
Here at Highfield, we had a lovely time celebrating National Grandparents Day. Some of our residents spent the day reminiscing about their grandparents and others remembered the moment when they were first told they were going to be a grandparent.
A number of our residents were joined by their grandchildren for a very special afternoon tea especially prepared by the home’s hospitality team. The home was filled with lots of love and laughter!

Residents enjoy 'Looney Tunes' visit
Staff and residents came together this weekendto enjoy a visit from local bike group, The Looney Tunes.
The idea came about because kind-hearted Paula Marshall from the home’s senior care team, had been chatting to residents and realised many of them had been keen bikers in their past. She thought they would love a visit from the Looney Tunes, a local group of scooter enthusiasts, and she was right!

Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

Home join local Memory Walk
Staff at Highfield have taken part in their local Memory Walk to raise money for Alzheimer’s Awareness and in honour of loved ones who have experienced dementia. Staff at the home got stuck in to help raise funds for this very important cause. The annual event which takes place across the country, raises vital funds to help research and support those living with Alzheimer’s and their families.
Kim Quean, Lead Activity Co-ordinator at Highfield Care Home, said: “The Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk has a special place in my heart, both personally and professionally. Taking part in fundraising for Alzheimer’s Awareness has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home has been behind us all the way. We’re very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”
