Activities at Highfield Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.

I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.

Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Festive Music and Movement

Residents at Highfields enjoyed a festive themed Music and Movement session with the fabulous Maggie from Musical Moments, we sang and danced to our favourite Christmas songs and really got into the spirit.

Christmas Sing-a-long

Residents and staff had an amazing festive afternoon, taking part in the Christmas sing-a-long.
There were smiles and laughter all round as we joined homes across the country to sing Christmas songs and dance along...
Lots of fun was had by all and we finished the afternoon with Mulled wine and a Minced Pie

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

At Highfield, we've been working tirelessly to prepare for the festive season, much like the elves at the North Pole.

With festive music filling the air, mulled wine and mince pies at the ready, we're embracing the joy of Christmas as we get into the festive spirit.

Coffee with a Copper

We had a fantastic morning getting to know our local PC Nick Woods. We spent time learning about the changes in policing, the community changes and all the experiences Nick has had throughout his career.

We loved meeting you and truly appreciate everything you do for our community.

Big Bingo Bonanza

Eyes down and looking!

Residents and staff here at Highfield joined fellow keen dabbers from over 260 Barchester Care Homes and Hospitals across the UK to compete in one of the biggest games of bingo!

Our residents have a very keen competitive nature as they took on our sister homes to find out who was a dab hand at bingo!

Pat our residents ambassador said "It has been such a fun afternoon,I always loved a game of bingo. It was wonderful to see everyone in the other homes joining in."

Holly & the Ivy

Staff and residents across our homes were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-inspired table decorating masterclass, courtesy of talented master florist, Kathryn Delve.

Kathryn is an independent florist based in Somerset, she specialises in creating unique wedding and event flowers.  She takes much of her inspiration for her displays from the beautiful scenery that surrounds her home and the changing seasons and colours.

During the workshop, residents were invited to join Kathryn to make beautiful Christmas-themed table decorations.
