Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A day at Hilton Park

Today, we enjoyed a variety of activities, including flower arranging, not just for our ladies but also for our gentlemen. John and Dennis were particularly inspired, creating their own beautiful displays that have brightened up our home. Meanwhile, the ladies worked together, sharing lovely conversations as they arranged their flowers.  In the afternoon, we gathered to watch the Barchester virtual event, "Meet the Owls," on screen. For those who preferred a quieter afternoon, we also made individual room visits to spend quality time with our wonderful residents in the comfort of their own spaces.

International Women's Day

Today, our residents were treated to a wonderful live music performance by "Vintage Songbird" Sally. We were delighted to welcome families and the All Saints Church community to our home to share in the celebration. After the performance, everyone enjoyed some lovely refreshments together. To mark this special occasion, all the ladies received flowers in recognition of International Women’s Day - a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements, strength, and contributions of women around the world

A welcome return to the Abbey

Today, we had a delightful visit to Anglesey Abbey and Gardens, strolling through the beautiful gardens and admiring the vibrant spring flowers. The sunshine, fresh air, and birdsong made it all the more special! We took a lovely break in the gardens, enjoying tea, coffee, and hot cross buns together, sharing laughter and good company. It was wonderful to have some of our residents' families join us on the trip too!Everyone loved seeing the spring flowers in bloom, and the sunshine was the perfect finishing touch to a truly wonderful day.

Welcoming the King

ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING!!!!!

We enjoyed an incredible performance from one of the finest Elvis impersonators around. An exceptional singer, performer, and all-round entertainer, 'Elvis' treated us to one of the best performances that we have had at Hilton Park for a long time. The residents absolutely loved the show from start to finish, and we can’t wait to welcome him back.

Many thanks to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.......you were truly brilliant!!

A trip to Madingley Hall

Despite yesterday’s unpleasant weather, we had a lovely trip to the charming Madingley Hall & Gardens with our two new residents, Joyce and Pauline. Pauline suggested the visit after hearing great feedback from friends and family. It was a wonderful morning getting to know our new residents better, Joyce became more comfortable and shared stories about her family, as did Pauline.  Madingley is definitely on our list of places to visit again!!

Grease is the word

A few of our residents requested a movie night, and of course, we couldn’t say no!!  We always love creating special moments for our residents, so last night, we hosted a cosy film night with cheese and wine. We started with five residents, but by the time the film ended, only John and Richard remained - both thoroughly enjoying the evening!  Iris suggested trying a movie session after lunch instead of in the evening, and we’re more than happy to make that happen. Resident happiness is always our priority, and we love seeing them enjoy these little moments of joy!!
