Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Super Furry Animals return to Hilton Park

We had another magical afternoon at Hilton Park courtesy of Michelle's Therapy Pets and her cute and cuddly animals.

The residents couldn't resist having a little cuddle with the animals with Mary being especially impressed after realising that the animals were real and not toys!!

Animal therapy offers wonderful benefits including reducing stress, improving mood and promoting a sense of calm and companionship. It was truly magical to see how our furry visitors brought joy and comfort to everyone.

Return of the Boogie Babes

Once again we had a fabulous morning courtesy of Boogie Babes and the mother/toddler group.

The residents absolutely loved the interactions with the little children and joined in with all of the nursery rhymes and other songs.

These sessions have become and much loved and highly anticipated part of our regular schedule at Hilton Park and we are already looking forward to seeing everybody again next month!!

Shop til you drop!!

Our latest little roadtrip was a shopping spree at Primark in Cambridge - one of our ladies' favourite activities! Our residents had a fantastic time browsing and picking out stylish outfits, all set for spring and summer. There was plenty of excitement as they explored the aisles, finding just what they were looking for. The best part? Everyone left with big smiles, delighted with their purchases! Well done, ladies what a wonderful shopping trip!

Embracing our racing heritage

Wednesday was our regular minibus outing, and what a fantastic morning it was!Our residents had an exciting trip, especially those who love horses and have a connection to Newmarket. Jacqui was especially moved, as her parents used to own a horse, bringing back fond memories. She was delighted to have the chance to stroke a horse once again. Richard, one of our residents, lives within walking distance of the National Horseracing Museum, making the visit even more special. Mary, who has a deep love for animals, was excited to join us on this adventure. After meeting a beautiful horse, we explored the museum, admiring vintage paintings, historic jockey uniforms, and fascinating equine medical equipment. We also watched a short film about the world of horse racing. A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at the National Horseracing Museum for their warm welcome and insightful tour. Our residents and staff had a fantastic time, creating lovely memories together.

Dennis' Royal Return to King's College

A lovely visit today to King's College, Cambridge, where one of our residents, Dennis , used to work for over a decade. As part of our care home's "fulfilling residents' wishes" initiative, Dennis's wish came true today, accompanied by his loving wife, Beverly. Dennis met a few familiar faces and enjoyed a good chat. He worked as a porter at Trinity Hall and also at King's College, as well as a visitor guide. This gave him the privilege of being a University Constable, carrying a linstock on ceremonial occasions. He loved working at the University, and today's visit brought back many happy memories.   Thank you so much to everyone involved, and to Beverly for making Dennis feel extra special today.
