Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Ice Cream Bournemouth you made our day!
A big thank you to Peter at Ice Cream Bournemouth for visiting Hyacinth House and serving up delicious whippy ice creams, as our treat for residents, staff and visitors.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed coming out to the van to place their orders and once the staff took a well-deserved break, you could hear a pin drop as we all happily tucked in.
The timing couldn't have been better, as the sun came out, making it the perfect afternoon for an ice cream treat. We're already looking forward to the next visit!

Congratulations Conrad and Margot on your 70th Anniversary!
To mark their momentous platinum milestone, they enjoyed a romantic meal for two with a menu of their choice, served by Anna as their hostess.
At the weekend, they were joined by family members to celebrate together over an afternoon tea prepared by our hospitality team.
When asked on how they first met Conrad fondly recalled, when Margot joined his workplace he was asked to show her where to get luncheon vouchers. After, he asked her if she would like to go out for a walk with him after work and that they've been together ever since! After 70 years, you can clearly see the love they still hold for each other.
Congratulations to you both and wishing you more years of happiness!

Did you see the Hyacinth Minibus out and about?
We are so very lucky to live in wonderful Dorset, with so many amazing places nearby to explore! This week, our residents made some fantastic decisions on where to visit.
A few joined us for a trip to Stewarts Garden Centre at Broomhill, a stroll admiring the flowers and in particular the water features for our own garden. With all this shopping, we stopped for a well-earned drink in their cafe.
Others opted for a visit to the Minster Market at the Allendale Centre, where we shopped 'til we dropped, bringing home a delicious treat of succulent strawberries to be enjoyed by all.
Thanks to the beautiful weather, we then took a delightful trip to Bournemouth Gardens. There we relaxed and enjoyed our strawberries and cream or an ice cream watching the world go by. What a glorious way to spend a Friday afternoon!
We’re already planning our next outings!

This sunny afternoon calls for a relaxing social in the garden!
With this glorious weather today, residents, visitors and staff took the opportunity to sit in the garden to socialise and unwind.
Sipping on a cool, refreshing peach tea accompanied by strawberries fresh from the morning market and served with cream, made for the perfect indulgence.

Barchester's Sing-a-long session with Dan from Biiah.
Barchester linked voices with other homes through the power of zoom to sing classics like "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers and "Good Vibrations" from the Beach Boys.
Biiah believes that everyone can sing and that singing is an intrinsic part of all of us. It’s so much more than just pleasure to our ears; it’s one of humanity’s oldest forms of communication, an opportunity for shared emotion, connection and self expression - and it’s good for you!
Mounting evidence suggests that singing regularly reduces stress and anxiety, improves lung health and can even slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. That’s why it’s their mission to get the whole world singing.
It was a fun and interactive session with residents and staff, perfectly and very apt for the lovely afternoon sunshine as everyone reminisced about holidays and trips, we cannot wait for the next sing along!

Did you know?
That we organise residents and relatives meetings to keep everyone updated and to ensure everyone’s views are heard?
This ensures that our activities are person-centred and that the latest information about protocols at our home is communicated to both our residents and their families. We cannot wait to see you in our next meeting, which is in November.
